      <p class="para_division">Using the <b class="uiTerm">Edge Weld</b> dialog box, you can insert edge welds between the specified edges of two sets of bodies, and define parameters for the weld.
      </p>
      <div class="title_division">Accessing</div>
      <p class="para_division">To access the <b class="uiTerm">Edge Weld</b> dialog box in the insert mode:
      </p>
      <p class="para_division">In the Modeling application</p>

            <p class="para_item">Click the <b class="uiTerm">Edge</b> icon <img align="bottom" src="graphics/icon_edge.gif" border="0"> on the <b class="uiTerm">Weld Assistant</b> toolbar.

      <p class="para_division">The <b class="uiTerm">Edge Weld</b> dialog box consists of two tab pages: <a class="links" href="javascript:void(0)" onclick="top.openFile('weldassistant/arc_edge.html#arc_arc_edge_aedge_crosec');return(false);">Cross Section</a> and <a class="links" href="javascript:void(0)" onclick="top.openFile('weldassistant/arc_edge.html#arc_arc_edge_aedge_boun');return(false);">Boundary</a>. 
      </p>
      <p class="para_division">In the Cross Section page you can specify the size of the weld, its attributes and characteristics. In this page, you can also view the type of weld you are creating.</p>

               <p class="para_td">Allows you to specify the process to be followed during production: GMAW, GTAW, GTAC, SMAW, PAW. The chosen option is assigned as attribute to the edge weld.</p>

               <p class="para_td"><b class="uiTerm">Field Weld</b></p>

               <p class="para_td">Allows you to assign the Field Weld attribute to the weld object. Turn <b class="uiTerm">Field Weld</b> on to assign the attribute to the edge weld.

               <p class="para_td">Specifies whether the weld is associative or fixed. This option is always on (associative) by default.</p>

               <p class="para_td">Select the extent of the edge weld from the two options provided:</p>
               <p class="para_td"><b class="uiTerm">Entire Length</b>: Allows you to create an edge weld for the entire intersection length of the selected edge(s) of the two sets of bodies.
               </p>
               <p class="para_td">You can specify the <b class="uiTerm">Distance from Start</b> and <b class="uiTerm">Distance from End</b>. These values are used to offset the weld from the start and end, along the length of the guide.
               </p>
               <p class="para_td"><b class="uiTerm">Set Ends</b>: Lets you create the edge weld between two points on the selected edge. When you select this option and click <b class="uiTerm">Apply</b> or <b class="uiTerm">OK</b>, the <a class="links" href="javascript:void(0)" onclick="top.popUpPage('shared_func/index.html?goto=shared_func/com_ptcon_d.html&vars=-aux,-home','linkInter','menubar=yes,status=yes,resizable=yes,toolbar=yes,scrollbars=yes,location=no,directories=no');return(false);"><b class="uiTerm">Point </b> dialog box</a> opens. You are cued to set or pick start and end points on the selected edge. The edge weld will be created between the set points.
               </p>

               <p class="para_td"><b class="uiTerm">Method</b></p>
            </td>
            <td bgcolor="#f7f7f7" colspan="1" rowspan="1" valign="top">
               <p class="para_td">Lets you select the creation method for the edge weld.</p>
               <p class="para_td"><b class="uiTerm">Continuous</b>: Allows you to create an edge weld continuously between specified extents (<b class="uiTerm">Entire Length</b> or <b class="uiTerm">Set Ends</b>). When you choose this option, the <b class="uiTerm">Spacing</b>, <b class="uiTerm">Number of Welds</b>, and <b class="uiTerm">Segment Length</b> fields appear grayed out.
               </p>
               <p class="para_td"><b class="uiTerm">Skip</b>: Lets you create a skip edge weld along specified extents (<b class="uiTerm">Entire Length</b> or <b class="uiTerm">Set Ends</b>). You must specify the skip parameters using the <b class="uiTerm">Spacing</b>, <b class="uiTerm">Number of Welds</b>, and <b class="uiTerm">Segment Length</b> fields.
               </p>

                           <p class="para_note_body"> You can choose any two of the following skip edge weld options. You cannot activate a third option when two options are turned on. Deactivating an option automatically activates the remaining option.</p>

               <p class="para_td"><b class="uiTerm">Spacing</b>: Allows you to specify the distance between two consecutive edge welds. The default value is taken from the <a class="links" href="javascript:void(0)" onclick="top.openFile('weldassistant/preferences.html');return(false);"><b class="uiTerm">Weld Preferences</b></a> dialog box.
               </p>
               <p class="para_td"><b class="uiTerm">Number of Welds</b>: Allows you to specify the number of edge welds. The default value for this field is 2. This option is turned on by default.
               </p>
               <p class="para_td"><b class="uiTerm">Segment Length</b>: Allows you to specify the <b class="uiTerm">Segment Length</b> for the <b class="uiTerm">Skip</b> method. This option is turned on by default.
               </p>
            </td>

            <p class="para_item">Select edges on the first body in the graphics window. See tips on <a class="links" href="javascript:void(0)" onclick="top.openFile('weldassistant/ref_ejsel.html');return(false);">Edge Selection</a>.
            </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Click the <b class="uiTerm">Next</b> button <img align="bottom" src="graphics/butt_next.gif" border="0"> to select edge(s) on the second set. You can use the <b class="uiTerm">Previous</b> button <img align="bottom" src="graphics/butt_prev.gif" border="0"> to modify the edges selected for the first set.
            </p>
         </li>

            <p class="para_item">Specify parameters on the <a class="links" href="javascript:void(0)" onclick="top.openFile('weldassistant/arc_edge.html#arc_arc_edge_aedge_dlg_hlp');return(false);"><b class="uiTerm">Edge Weld</b> dialog box</a>.
            </p>

            <p class="para_item">Choose <b class="uiTerm">OK</b> to create the weld and exit the dialog box. Or click <b class="uiTerm">Apply</b> to create the weld and keep the <b class="uiTerm">Edge Weld</b> dialog box open.
            </p>
         </li>
      </ol>
      <p class="para_division">The edge weld is created.</p>

            <p class="para_item">On the <b class="uiTerm">Edit</b>&rarr;<b class="uiTerm">Feature</b>&rarr;<b class="uiTerm">Edit Parameters</b> dialog box, or in the <a class="links" href="javascript:void(0)" onclick="top.popUpPage('modeling/index.html?goto=modeling/partnav_overview.html&vars=-aux,-home','linkInter','menubar=yes,status=yes,resizable=yes,toolbar=yes,scrollbars=yes,location=no,directories=no');return(false);"><b class="uiTerm">Part Navigator</b></a>, double click the edge weld. The <b class="uiTerm">Edge Weld</b> dialog box appears in the edit mode.

            <p class="para_item">Edit the parameters you want to modify.</p>

            <p class="para_item">After you make the modifications, choose <b class="uiTerm">OK</b>.
