      <p class="para_topic">The example adds a V groove weld along the top edges of the two blocks, where the yellow arrows are pointing:</p>

            <p class="para_item">On the <b class="uiTerm">Weld Assistant</b> toolbar, click <b class="uiTerm">Groove</b> <img align="bottom" src="../graphic_library/icons/toolbars/wizards/weld_assistant/groove.gif" border="0"> (or choose <b class="uiTerm">Insert</b>&rarr;<b class="uiTerm">Welding</b>&rarr;<b class="uiTerm">Groove</b>).
            </p>
            <p class="para_item">The <b class="uiTerm">Weld Point</b> dialog box opens.
            </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Specify the groove weld's <b class="uiTerm">Type</b>.
            </p>
            <p class="para_item">In the example, the <b class="uiTerm">Type</b> is set to <b class="uiTerm">V Groove</b>.
            </p>

            <p class="para_item">Check your <b class="uiTerm">Settings</b>. (<b class="uiTerm">Settings</b> and <b class="uiTerm">Preview</b> are near the bottom of the <b class="uiTerm">Weld Groove</b> dialog box.)
            </p>
            <ul>
               <li>
                  <p class="para_item">Specify whether your <b class="uiTerm">Existing Edges</b> are <b class="uiTerm">Prepared</b> or <b class="uiTerm">Not Prepared</b>.
                  </p>
                  <p class="para_item">Select <b class="uiTerm">Prepared</b> if you want the weld to follow the shape of the existing edges.
                  </p>
                  <p class="para_item">If you select <b class="uiTerm">Not Prepared</b>, make your selection from the <b class="uiTerm">Prepare edges</b> list. Select <b class="uiTerm">None</b> if you want the edges to remain unprepared. Select <b class="uiTerm">Entire Length</b> or <b class="uiTerm">Weld Limits</b> if you want the edges prepared as part of the groove weld creation.
                  </p>
               </li>
            </ul>

            <p class="para_item">Specify whether you want a cross-sectional <b class="uiTerm">Preview</b> of the groove weld.
            </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">While <b class="uiTerm">First Face Set</b> <img align="bottom" src="../graphic_library/icons/dialogs/wizards/groove_weld/first_face_set.gif" border="0"> is active, select one or more faces to define the first side of the groove weld.
            </p>
            <p class="para_item">In this example, the first face set consists of one face (the top of the left box).</p>

            <p class="para_item">Click <b class="uiTerm">Second Face Set</b> <img align="bottom" src="../graphic_library/icons/dialogs/wizards/groove_weld/second_face_set.gif" border="0">, and select one or more faces to define the second side of the groove weld.
            </p>
            <p class="para_item">In this example, the second face set consists of one face (the top of the right box).</p>

            <p class="para_item"><b class="uiTerm">OK</b> and <b class="uiTerm">Apply</b> are now available, and dynamic input boxes and drag handles appear in the graphics window. You can create the groove weld now, or you can change the default parameters in the graphics window or in the additional options on the <b class="uiTerm">Weld Groove</b> dialog box.
            </p>
            <p class="para_item">The following pictures show how you can modify the groove weld inputs by dragging the start handle (top picture) or an angle handle (bottom picture).</p>

            <p class="para_item">If you need to extend edges from one or both face sets to create the groove weld, choose <b class="uiTerm">First Edge Set</b> or <b class="uiTerm">Second Edge Set</b> and select the edges.
            </p>
            <p class="para_item">The following figures demonstrate cases where you may need to select edges. The top figure shows examples of unprepared edges, and the bottom figure shows examples of prepared edges. The circles show where you would select the edges. Notice that you would not select edges in the first two examples in each figure.</p>

            <p class="para_item">(Optional) You can do any of the following to get the result you want:</p>
            <ul>
               <li>
                  <p class="para_item">Specify the <b class="uiTerm">Contour</b> of the groove weld.
                  </p>
               </li>
               <li>
                  <p class="para_item">Specify the other <b class="uiTerm">Cross Section</b> options, which vary depending on the <b class="uiTerm">Type</b>.
                  </p>
               </li>
               <li>
                  <p class="para_item">If you want the groove weld to be created as multiple welds instead of one continuous weld, choose <b class="uiTerm">Create Skip Welds</b>.
                  </p>
                  <p class="para_item">Choose the <b class="uiTerm">Method</b> that identifies which two of the three available parameters (spacing, number, and length) you will use to create the weld.
                  </p>
                  <p class="para_item">Enter values for the parameters you choose.</p>
                  <p class="para_item">The following figure shows a V groove weld where <b class="uiTerm">Create Skip Welds</b> is selected, <b class="uiTerm">Method</b> is <b class="uiTerm">Number, Length</b>, <b class="uiTerm">Number of Welds</b> is 3, and <b class="uiTerm">Segment Length</b> is 1 inch.

                  <p class="para_item">Specify whether you want to add the <b class="uiTerm">Field Weld</b> attribute to the weld.
                  </p>

                  <p class="para_item">Click <b class="uiTerm">Add Characteristic</b> <img align="bottom" src="../graphic_library/icons/dialogs/wizards/weld_point/add_characteristics.gif" border="0"> if you want to add additional <a class="links" href="javascript:void(0)" onclick="top.openFile('weldassistant/weld_characteristics.html');return(false);">weld characteristics</a> to the groove weld.
                  </p>
               </li>
            </ul>
         </li>

            <p class="para_item">When you finish defining the groove weld parameters, click <b class="uiTerm">OK</b> or <b class="uiTerm">Apply</b> to create the groove weld.
            </p>
         </li>
