      <div class="title_division">Attributes in Mold Wizard</div>
<p class="para_division">Mold Wizard has many functions that target specific part files in the Mold Wizard assembly. Mold Wizard uses part attributes to identify parts in the mold design instead of a part file name because the part file names are different for each mold design project.</p>
      <div class="title_division">What is a part attribute?</div>
<p class="para_division">Part attributes are similar to expressions in that they have a name and a value. One difference between an expression and an attribute is that an expression must have a numerical value while an attribute may have any text as the value. Attributes may be assigned, deleted, copied, and listed while in the modeling application from the NX Database Attributes dialog box. Pick Format&rarr;Database Attributes&rarr;Part.</p>
<div class="title_division">What are the part attributes used for in Mold Wizard?</div>
<p class="para_division">There are three reasons for part attributes:</p>
      <div class="title_division">To identify a specific file</div>
<p class="para_division">A typical mold project includes a mold base. If a standard part is to be added as a component of the mold base, the Standard Part Management System must be able to find the mold base in the mold assembly. Since the mold base can have any name, Mold Wizard searches for a part file that contains the part attribute UM_MOLDBASE. (UM is an abbreviation for UG_MOLD.)</p>
<p class="para_division">If you open a mold base file and list the User Defined Part Attributes (UDA), you will see that it contains the UDA UM_MOLDBASE.</p>
<div class="title_division">To identify a Standard Part as belonging to a type of Standard Part</div>
<p class="para_division">Some standard parts have special functions that are applied to them. For example, ejector pins may be trimmed with the Ejector Pin function. Ejector pin standard parts contain a part attribute name UM_EJECTOR to identify them as selectable for application of the Ejector Pin function.</p>
<div class="title_division">To identify Standard Parts for special processing</div>
<p class="para_division">Some standard parts have special requirements for pocket cutting. The pocket cutting type is set by the value that is set for the part attribute UM_STANDARD_PART. The possible values for UM_STANDARD_PART are: 0,1,2,3. Each of these values directs the pocket cutting function to operate in a specific way.</p>
