      <div class="title_division">Weld Advisor Overview</div>
      <p class="para_division"><b class="uiTerm">Weld Advisor</b> allows you to run checks on spot weld locations with an interactive feedback mechanism that lets you directly access the <b class="uiTerm">Edit Parameters</b> menu and generate reports on the spot welds. Use <b class="uiTerm">Weld Advisor</b> to validate a spot weld feature against predefined design and manufacturing rules.

      <div class="title_division">About Weld Advisor</div>
      <p class="para_division">In many industries, spot welds are widely used throughout the manufacturing process and must be checked against critical rules.To run <b class="uiTerm">Weld Advisor</b>, select the welds you want to include in the spot weld validation, specify the checks you want to run, and click <b class="uiTerm">Apply </b> in the <b class="uiTerm">Weld Advisor</b> dialog box.

      <div class="title_division">Check Types</div>
      <p class="para_division"><b class="uiTerm">Weld Advisor</b> allows you to perform several types of checks on spot welds. These checks are described in the following table:

               </td>

                  <p class="para_td">Looks for coincident points. If the coordinate values of two points are identical, the points are flagged as coincident.</p>

                  <p class="para_td"><b class="uiTerm">MinimumPointDistance</b> 
                  </p>
               </td>
               <td colspan="1" rowspan="1">
                  <p class="para_td">Looks at all the weld points selected in the work part and evaluates the 3D minimum distance between the selected weld points. You can specify the minimum distance, and if any two points are found to be closer than specified, they will be flagged as a rule violation.</p>
                  <p class="para_td">You can run this check on all spot weld types including resistance, arc, and mechanical clinches.</p>

               </td>
               <td colspan="1" rowspan="1">
                  <p class="para_td">Validates the distances of a spot weld point to the laminar edges of a part. You can specify the minimum distance that a spot weld can be relative to the edge of the part. The face information gathered by <a class="links" href="javascript:void(0)" onclick="top.openFile('weldassistant/face_finder.html');return(false);"><b class="uiTerm">Connected Face Finder</b></a> is used in this check.

                  <p class="para_td"><b class="uiTerm">FacePlanarity</b></p>
               </td>
               <td colspan="1" rowspan="1">
                  <p class="para_td">Evaluates opposing faces being welded for planarity within a given tolerance. You can specify the radius of the area to be checked.</p>
                  <p class="para_td">This check evaluates normals of opposing faces around the specified radius. If the angle between the normals is greater than the value specified in the customer default, a violation is raised.</p>

                  <p class="para_td"><b class="uiTerm">FaceParallelism</b></p>
               </td>
               <td colspan="1" rowspan="1">
                  <p class="para_td">Evaluates the opposing faces being welded for relative parallelism within a given tolerance. You can specify the radius around the weld point that will be evaluated.</p>
                  <p class="para_td">This check evaluates normals of opposing faces around the specified radius. If the angle between the normals is greater than the value specified in the customer default, a violation is raised.</p>

                  <p class="para_td"><b class="uiTerm">Stack Up Gap</b></p>
               </td>
               <td colspan="1" rowspan="1">
                  <p class="para_td">Evaluates the 3D distance between the two joining panels at the weld spot. You can specify the maximum allowable gap, and if the two panels are found to be further apart at the given weld point, it is flagged as a rule violation The weld ID and the faces are listed in the violation report.</p>
                  <p class="para_td">This check can handle up to 4 faces.</p>

                  <p class="para_td"><b class="uiTerm">CsysFaceNormalAngle</b></p>
               </td>
               <td colspan="1" rowspan="1">
                  <p class="para_td">Evaluates the deviation between the Z axis of the weld CSYS and the face normal through the weld point.</p>

               <td colspan="1" rowspan="1">
                  <p class="para_td">Verifies whether the number of panels being welded (with resistance spot welds) is valid, given those panels' material type and thickness.</p>

      </table><br><div class="title_division">Check Results</div>
      <p class="para_division">Check results are displayed in tree format in the <b class="uiTerm">Weld Advisor</b> results window. You can choose either of two ways to display the results, where:
      </p>
      <ul>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Each point checked is listed in the tree, in violation or not.</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Violations are listed by check type.</p>
         </li>
      </ul>
      <p class="para_division">Each violation is listed by weld ID and its associated geometry with details in an information window. When you select a node, the associated geometry is highlighted in the work space. You can also export the results into an XML file.</p>
      <div class="title_division">Results Window</div>
      <p class="para_division">When a check is completed, the information is displayed in the <b class="uiTerm">Weld Advisor </b>results window in tree format. You can perform operations on the information in the tree; for example, by specifying the sort option. To access the menus for these operations, right-click a node in the tree, and select the options you want from the node's shortcut menu.

                  <p class="para_td">Writes two attributes to each checked point. The first attribute is &ldquo;Standard&rdquo;, which lists the checks that the point passed. The second attribute is &ldquo;Non-Standard&rdquo;, which lists the checks that the point failed.</p>
                  <p class="para_td">These attributes are overwritten each time the <b class="uiTerm">Save Results</b> option is run.

When you finish editing and choose <b class="uiTerm">OK</b> or <b class="uiTerm">Apply</b> in the <b class="uiTerm">Weld Point</b> dialog box, you are returned to the Results menu.
