      <p class="para_topic">In many cases, when you make changes to the product model, Mold Wizard automatically detects the changes and updates the corresponding parting design automatically or interactively (depending on the type of change).</p>
      <div class="title_division">Parting Update Cases</div>
      <div class="title_division">Internal Change</div>
      <p class="para_division">Geometry changes you make to the product model (such as adding bosses, ribs, recesses) that do not change the topology (arrangement of faces or edges) automatically update the mold design. These changes do not involve addition or removal of parting geometry. Any change of this type propagates to the mold design automatically.</p>
      <div class="title_division">Add/Remove Holes</div>
      <p class="para_division">A hole added to or removed from the product model can be automatically propagated to the mold design. This update process requires that the automated hole-patching routines are applicable to the hole. If the hole requires interactive modeling of the parting surface, the process is semi-automatic.</p>
      <div class="title_division">Change Parting Line</div>
      <p class="para_division">Changes such as adding or removing notches on the product that cause parting line changes are automatically updatable in some cases, and interactively updatable in others. Whether is can or not be automatically updated is determined by the design change and the parting surface type used.</p>

      </table><br><div class="title_division">Update Method</div>
      <p class="para_division">The Mold Wizard parting module can monitor the product model for changes that affect parting geometry and automatically update the parting lines and surfaces when possible.</p>
      <p class="para_division">The option MW_PartingAutoEdit in <b class="uiTerm">Mold Wizard Customer Defaults</b> determines if the parting will be edited automatically, or if the standard Edit During Update methods will be used.
      </p>
      <p class="para_division">In some cases, new parting geometry is designed by the system automatically. In some complex cases, it may be preferable to update the parting design manually rather than automatically. You should disable the option if you plan to make a complex change to the product.</p>
      <div class="title_division">Determine When to Use Manual or Automated Parting Update</div>
      <p class="para_division">The following guidelines determine when you should use automated or manual parting update.</p>
      <p class="para_division">Automated Parting Update may be used if the following situations apply:</p>
      <ul>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">The original parting design was completed with parting lines that were created by the auto search method, and the openings in the part were closed by the auto patch method.</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">The new parting geometry corresponding to the changes made to the product model may be designed by auto search parting lines and auto patch methods.</p>
         </li>
      </ul>
      <p class="para_division">Use manual parting update if the following situations exist in the previous parting design:</p>
      <ul>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Solid Patch was used.</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Parting surfaces were created with NX Freeform Features and included with the Mold Wizard Tools, Add Existing Surfaces function.</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">The Edit Parting Lines function was used to remove parting lines found by the Auto Search Parting Lines function.</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Other parting lines were added using the Edit Parting Lines function.</p>
         </li>
      </ul>
      <div class="title_division">Automatic Update</div>
      <p class="para_division">When a change is made to the product model, an update occurs. If the Parting Auto Edit control is set to automatic, a monitoring function determines if the changes affect parting geometry. (If the changes do not affect parting geometry, the mold will update without involving the parting update functions.)</p>
      <p class="para_division">If the changes do affect parting geometry, the following operations occur:</p>
      <ul>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">The cavity and core regions in the parting part are suppressed. (This also suppresses all features that depend on these regions as parametric input.)</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Parting surfaces that were made for features that were removed from the product model or that can no longer be solved with the previous parting surface type will be deleted.</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">New parting lines will be found.</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">New parting surfaces will be created.</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">The extracted regions will be updated to the new product model and parting geometry.</p>
         </li>
      </ul>

      <p class="para_division">When product designs involve complex changes, automatic parting update may not be possible. In this case there are two options:</p>
      <ul>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Edit the existing parting using the Suppress Parting process.</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Create a new set of parting geometry as a Family Mold using the new part file. Re-link the core and cavity sheets in the parting part to this new parting part, and update the mold.</p>
         </li>
