      <p class="para_topic">In NX, basic model files are called part files, and are named &lt;name&gt;.prt. In the part file, geometric entities are called objects. Objects are the lowest-level entity in NX.</p>
      <p class="para_topic">To create a hierarchy in NX, you can refer to other .prt files as  <em>components</em> from within the current .prt file. For example, you have a .prt file containing a sphere and another .prt file containing a cube, and you want to make these .prt files into sub-assemblies within a hierarchy. To set up this hierarchy, you would create a third .prt file and refer to the sphere and cube .prt files as components within the new file.
      </p>
      <p class="para_topic">A .prt file can contain both objects and components, just objects, or just components.</p>
      <p class="para_topic">You can create instances in the NX model by referencing the same component .prt file more than once in the hierarchy.</p>
