An example is the variable radius blends surface. The tolerance impacts the amount of data created for defining of the edge curves of the approximated surface. If the standard NX default is used, the approximation at very tight tolerances will cause a greater amount of data to create. A general rule of thumb to follow is to set the approximation tolerance at an order of magnitude smaller than the receiving systems machining tolerance.

The Maximum Line Thickness (MLT) allows you to control the maximum display line thickness, controlled by parameters 16 and 17 in the global section of the IGES file. Parameter 16 will be the maximum range of weights and Parameter 17 will be the maximum line thickness. Any value other than zero will set the range parameter (16) to 300 for the range. The IGES output will also write a line weight with each entity written to the IGES file based on either the default or the value entered. The value entered is in millimeters and will convert to English for English parts. The entered valued other than 0.0 implies that the German DIN drawing standard is used by the receiving system to compute line widths. The valid range for the MLT is 0.0 to 25.4. The following mapping will determine how lines are weighted. We recommend that if you do not know the Maximum Line Thickness of the receiving system use the default of 0.0.
