      </table><br><p class="para_topic">Before you start translating NX parts to JT, there are several items that you should review.</p>
      <div class="title_division">NX Customer Defaults</div>
      <p class="para_division">There are several important NX to JT translator parameters in the <b class="uiTerm">Customer Defaults</b> dialog box (<b class="uiTerm">File</b>&rarr;<b class="uiTerm">Utilities</b>&rarr;<b class="uiTerm">Customer Defaults</b>): 
      </p>
      <ul>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item"><b class="uiTerm">Model Reference Set Name</b> (<b class="uiTerm">Customer Defaults</b>&rarr;<b class="uiTerm">Assemblies</b>&rarr;<b class="uiTerm">Site Standards</b>): Specifies the model reference set to be translated to the JT format, and appends it to the part name when generating a JT file. For example, if the model reference set is CABINET and the part is &quot;bracket,&quot; the JT file produced is bracket_CABINET.jt. If the &ldquo;bracket&rdquo; part does not contain the &ldquo;CABINET&rdquo; reference set, the JT file produced is bracket_None.jt.
            </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item"><b class="uiTerm">Additional Model Reference Set Names </b>(<b class="uiTerm">Customer Defaults</b>&rarr;<b class="uiTerm">Assemblies</b>&rarr;<b class="uiTerm">Site Standards</b>): Specifies a set of reference set names delimited by spaces. These are names of additional reference sets that represent model geometry, for example, if you have left and right hand parts represented in the same part file. These reference sets are taken into account while generating Teamcenter Visualization files, where a Tc Vis file is generated to represent each reference set.
            </p>

                        <p class="para_note_body">For this option to be effective, you must specify the main <b class="uiTerm">Model Reference Set Name</b>.

            <p class="para_item"><b class="uiTerm">Web Server</b> (<b class="uiTerm">Customer Defaults</b>&rarr;<b class="uiTerm">Teamcenter Integration for NX</b>&rarr;<b class="uiTerm">Miscellaneous</b>): Provides the location of the Teamcenter Engineering web server. This is applicable when you generate a bookmark file that refers to JT files in Teamcenter Engineering.
            </p>

                        <p class="para_note_body">This setting must include the &quot;http&quot; part of the server location. For example, if your Teamcenter Engineering web login is &quot;mywebserver:8080/tce/,&quot; set the parameter to &quot;http://mywebserver:8080.&quot;</p>

      <div class="title_division">Automatically Save Part Changes to JT Files</div>
      <p class="para_division">When you modify a part and save it, you can have the change automatically incorporated into the JT file. The JT file is regenerated and kept up-to-date with the .prt file. If the JT file does not exist, a new JT file is not created.   </p>
      <p class="para_division">When the JT file for the component part is updated, the JT file for the assembly where the component part resides is also updated, depending on the assembly type. If the assembly type is an assembly that contains a collection of component parts and subassemblies and there is no geometry at the assembly level, the assembly JT file is not updated. If the assembly type is an assembly that contains geometry at the assembly level, the assembly JT file is updated.  </p>
      <p class="para_division">To automatically update the JT part file, do one of the following: </p>
      <ul>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">In NX, choose <b class="uiTerm">File</b>&rarr;<b class="uiTerm">Options</b>&rarr;<b class="uiTerm">Save Options</b> to open the <b class="uiTerm">Save Options</b> dialog box. Select the <b class="uiTerm">Save JT Data </b>check box.
            </p>

            <p class="para_item">In the <b class="uiTerm">Customer Defaults</b> dialog box, select <b class="uiTerm">Gateway</b>&rarr;<b class="uiTerm">JT Files</b> and select the <b class="uiTerm">Save JT Data</b> check box. 
            </p>

      <div class="title_division">Tessellation Configuration</div>
      <p class="para_division">To determine how you want geometry and additional data such as attributes to be translated, use the tessellation options in the configuration file.</p>
      <div class="title_division">Product and Manufacturing Information (PMI)</div>
      <p class="para_division">You can translate NX product and manufacturing information (PMI) to JT. PMI objects include: </p>
      <ul>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">3D dimensions</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Datums </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Datum targets</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Feature control frames</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">3D annotations</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Notes </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Symbols </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Geoemetric tolerancing</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Security markings</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">User-defined PMI</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Surface finish</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Locator symbol</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Material specification</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Process specification</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Part specification</p>
         </li>
      </ul>
      <p class="para_division">To translate drafting annotation and dimensions to JT, set the UGII_PV_TRANS_MODEL_ANN environment variable to &quot;any&quot; value. For example:</p>
      <p class="para_division">UGII_PV_TRANS_MODEL_ANN=5</p>
      <p class="para_division">UGII_PV_TRANS_MODEL_ANN=on</p>
      <p class="para_division">UGII_PV_TRANS_MODEL_ANN=true</p>
      <div class="title_division">Model Reference Set Creation</div>
      <p class="para_division">The model reference set used when you generate a JT file for an assembly, is specified in the <b class="uiTerm">Model Reference Set Name</b> preference. If you do not want NX to create this model reference set (if it's not already present in the assembly), set the UGII_DONT_MANAGE_MODEL_REFSETS environment variable to any value before running the translator.
      </p>

      <div class="title_division">PMI Symbols</div>
      <p class="para_division">To generate new PMI types, set the JTK_USE_MASTER_NOTATION_PMI_FORMAT environment variable to 1.</p>
      <div class="title_division">Instance ID for CADIDs</div>
      <p class="para_division">To use the instance ID for CADIDs in the jt nodes, set the JTK_XLATR_ENABLE_PERSISTED_INSTANCE_ID environment variable to 1.</p>
