For example:

“C:\Program Files\NX5\catiav5\catiav5.exe" C:\catiav5\testfile.CATPart

The input file can be a CATIA V5 file, with an extension of .CATPart or .CATProduct, if bringing data into NX, or it can be a NX file, with an extension of .prt, if moving data to CATIA V5. The command above will create a NX part file and a log file named catiav5.log in the current directory since no output directory filename, or log file was specified. The translator will also create a log file named, catiav5.log in the current directory, since no log file was specified.

If any of the directories specified on the command line contain spaces, you must add double quotes around the entire path and file name.

You can specify the name of the output file to create. For example:

"C:\Program Files\NX5\catiav5\catiav5.exe" i=C:\catiav5\testfile.CATPart o=C:\parts\testfile.prt

This command creates the NX part file testfile.prt in the C:\parts directory. Notice that when you specify more than one command line option, you need to use the option characters. Since this command does not specify a log file, the translator creates one called catiav5.log in the same directory as the output file.

You can also specify a defaults file that contains an assembly search path for a CATIA V5 assembly. For example:

"C:\Program Files\NX5\catiav5\catiav5.exe" i=C:\catiav5\testfile.CATproduct o=C:\parts\testfile.asm.prt d=C:\catiav5\catiav5.def

This command will convert the CATIA V5 assembly called testfile.CATProduct and all its components. The translator will create the top-level assembly file “testfile.asm.prt” and all of the component parts in the directory C:\parts.

Finally, you can specify a log file in which the translator records the details of the translation. For example:

"C:\Program Files\NX\catiav5\catiav5.exe" i=C:\catiav5\testfile.CATProduct d=C:\catiav5\catiav5.def l=C:\temp\catiav5.log

Because no output file name was specified, the output file is created in the current directory with a default name testfile_CATProducts.prt.
