The purpose of this Help is to assist you in running the IGES, STEP203, STEP214, DXF/DWG, CATIA V4, CATIA V5, and Pro/E translators from NX using the File→Import/Export menu. All of the functions common to all translators in the early topics are discussed and the topics will further branch out specific translator Advanced Settings for Import and Export in the remaining topics. You should refer to the individual product Help for detailed information about running the translator from UGMENU, command line calls, error messages, and entity mapping.

The Translator User Interface main purpose is to call the translator using a simple command line execution outside of the NX session. The interface is a gathering place for all of the inputs to the translator in a familiar NX environment. The translators themselves have not changed to run as part of the NX session. A batch job starts that runs outside of NX to do the actual translation.

The Interface allows you to control the inputs to the translator which pass to it in two forms. First, there are the parameters for Input file name, Output file name, and Settings file name, which pass to the translator on the command line and are selected in each of the translator's main menus. Second, there are the keywords and their values, which pass to the translator within the settings file and are reviewed or updated by using the various dialog box items on Data to Export/Import and Advanced pages.

A future release will make the UGMENU interface obsolete and this Help will become the main user help for all translator products.
