               <p class="para_td">The <b class="uiTerm">Source Specification Method</b> allows you to specify what to export and translate.

                     <p class="para_item">Choosing <b class="uiTerm">Select From Display Part</b> will make the <b class="uiTerm">Class Select</b> button available so that you can select objects in the current display.

                     <p class="para_item">Choosing <b class="uiTerm">Existing Part</b> will make the <b class="uiTerm">Choose Part</b> button available so you can specify an entire part to translate.

               <p class="para_th">Class Select</p>

               <p class="para_td">Clicking the <b class="uiTerm">Class Select</b> button opens the <b class="uiTerm">Class Selection</b> dialog box, you can highlight objects from the graphics window for translation and export. You can select from fully loaded parts in the display. You can enter the <b class="uiTerm">Class Selection</b> dialog box, select objects, exit the dialog box by choosing <b class="uiTerm">OK</b>, and then return again to <b class="uiTerm">Class Selection</b> to select (or deselect) more objects. (To deselect an object from the display, use &lt;Shift&gt;&lt;right-click&gt;.).
               </p>
               <p class="para_td">If you have not yet selected objects using <b class="uiTerm">Class Selection</b>, the message: No objects selected, appears beneath the <b class="uiTerm">Class Select</b> button. If you have selected objects, the message: Export class selected objects, appears beneath the <b class="uiTerm">Class Select</b> button.
               </p>

Choose any existing NX part to translate that part. The name of the part you select will appear beneath the <b class="uiTerm">Choose Part</b> button.

               <p class="para_td">If the <b class="uiTerm">Output To list</b> is available, then use it to specify whether to project the objects into a drawing or a view. If you select drawing, the <b class="uiTerm">Choose Drawing</b> button will be available. If you select view, the <b class="uiTerm">Choose View</b> button will be available.
               </p>

               <p class="para_th">Choose Drawing or Choose</p>

               <p class="para_td">One of these two buttons will be active, depending on which object you choose to project under <b class="uiTerm">Object to Project</b>. You can choose from a list of <b class="uiTerm">Drawings</b> or <b class="uiTerm">Views</b> in the specified part. The list will only allow one choice at this time.
               </p>

               <p class="para_th">Output To</p>
            </th>
            <td bgcolor="#f7f7f7" colspan="1" rowspan="1">
               <p class="para_td">Use this list to specify whether the projected objects are to be output to Modeling (in the TOP view) or to Drafting (in a drawing and member views).</p>
               <p class="para_td">If you select Modeling, the translator projects objects into the plane of the view or drawing. &nbsp;You can specify which view or drawing using the <b class="uiTerm">Object to Project</b> and the <b class="uiTerm">Choose Drawing</b> or <b class="uiTerm">Choose View </b>buttons. All objects appear in the TOP modeling view. The translator does not retain drafting objects (such as drawing and member views).
               </p>
               <p class="para_td">If you select Drafting, the translator retains the specified drawing, along with its member views. The translator projects visible objects into the respective drawing views. The objects become view-dependant on their respective drawing views. The translator does not retain modeling objects. Applications that need to retain original coordinates, scales and other drafting data for later detailing on target systems find this option useful.</p>
               <p class="para_td">For Drafting mode, you can validate objects that are projected into the plane of a drawing's member view (Z=0) by using either <b class="uiTerm">View&rarr;Operation&rarr;Expand</b> followed by either an <b class="uiTerm">Information&rarr;Object</b> or a <b class="uiTerm">View Rotate</b>.
               </p>

               <p class="para_td">When translating a part using the <b class="uiTerm">2D Exchange</b> dialog box, you can select one of four formats for the output.
               </p>
               <ol type="1" start="1">

                     <p class="para_item">NX part (default)</p>

                  <li>
                     <p class="para_item">IGES file</p>
                  </li>
                  <li>
                     <p class="para_item">DXF file</p>
                  </li>
                  <li>
                     <p class="para_item">DWG file</p>

               </ol>
               <p class="para_td">The first option converts the objects you selected into a two&ndash;dimensional NX parts. For all of the other options, the 2D Exchange translator gives a temporary two-dimensional NX part to the appropriate translator. For example, if you select IGES from the list, you will end up with a two-dimensional IGES file.</p>
            </td>

               <p class="para_th">Specify Output File</p>
            </th>
            <td bgcolor="#f7f7f7" colspan="1" rowspan="1">
               <p class="para_td">Use this button to specify the name of the output file. By default, this option is set to the work part name. The translator automatically calculates the extension from the translator used (for example, sample_2d.prt for a 2D NX Part, sample.igs for IGES, etc.). Use the <b class="uiTerm">File Selection</b> dialog box to export to a new file or an existing file.
               </p>
               <p class="para_td">The files generated for the IGES, DXF, and DWG will have Z values that are always zero.</p>
            </td>
         </tr>
         <tr valign="top">

               <p class="para_th">Choose Defaults File</p>
            </th>
            <td bgcolor="#f7f7f7" colspan="1" rowspan="1">
               <p class="para_td">Currently, you cannot change the defaults file for 2D Exchange. This option is, therefore, unavailable.</p>

               <p class="para_th">Specify Log File</p>
            </th>
            <td bgcolor="#f7f7f7" colspan="1" rowspan="1">
               <p class="para_td">The translator automatically creates a name for the log file based on the name of the NX part you choose. If you have not yet chosen a part, the dialog box displays: No log file specified, below the <b class="uiTerm">Specify Log File</b> button. After you specify a NX part, the log file name defaults to the name of the input file root with a _2d.log extension. You can change the log file name to a different name using the <b class="uiTerm">Specify Log File</b> button.
               </p>
            </td>

               <p class="para_th">Review Log File</p>

               <p class="para_td">The <b class="uiTerm">Review Log File</b> button lets you select and review logs from a list of previously created log files. The Information window displays the name of the chosen log file.
               </p>

               <p class="para_th">Running the Translation</p>
            </th>
            <td bgcolor="#f7f7f7" colspan="1" rowspan="1">
               <p class="para_td">Selecting <b class="uiTerm">OK</b> causes a command line translation to begin in batch mode. The translator will attempt to e-mail the results to the person who invoked the operation. If e-mail has not been set up, you should look on the system to see the results.
