      </table><br><p class="para_topic">When you first specify the STEP format, abbreviated (or <b class="uiTerm">Short</b>) names were defined for STEP-specific information. Over time the abbreviated representations have been replaced by the full (or <b class="uiTerm">Long</b>) name extension for these items. Most systems currently read the long name formats.
      </p>
      <p class="para_topic">If the sending system does not support the <b class="uiTerm">Long Name</b> extension then do not check this option.
      </p>
      <p class="para_topic">The default is export <b class="uiTerm">Long Names</b> for STEP entity types.
      </p>
      <div class="title_division">Include validation information</div>
      <p class="para_division">You can write additional information to the STEP file that contains information that the receiving system can use to ensure that the data imported matches the data that exports. The validation information is mass property information (volume, area, and center of gravity) for each solid, each component, and the total product structure.</p>
      <p class="para_division">When a STEP file has validation data in it by the sending system, it imports into NX as attribute information. specifically, DEA_AREA, DEA_VOLUME, DEA_COFGX , DEA_COFGY and DEA_COFGZ attributes are created with the validation for the part or component as well as each solid.</p>

      <p class="para_division">The default is to not export <b class="uiTerm">Validation Information</b>.

      <div class="title_division">Include color and layers (AP203 only)</div>
      <p class="para_division">The STEP AP203 format extends to include color and layer information. However many systems do not yet support this extension. Color and layers are part of the standard STEP AP214 format and therefore are not optional.</p>
      <p class="para_division">The default is not to export <b class="uiTerm">Color</b> and <b class="uiTerm">Layer</b> information.
      </p>
      <div class="title_division">Header information</div>
      <p class="para_division">The <b class="uiTerm">Description</b>, <b class="uiTerm">Author</b>, <b class="uiTerm">Organization</b>, and <b class="uiTerm">Authorization</b> are dynamic input boxes that correspond to <b class="uiTerm">STEP Header Section</b> items. The STEP definition of these boxes appears below. There is no validation of the data on entry. Whatever information you enter is copied as entered into the STEP file.

            <p class="para_item">Description is an information description of the contents of the STEP file.</p>

            <p class="para_item">Author is the name and address of the person responsible for creating the STEP file.</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Organization is the name of the internal or external organization of the Author.</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Authorization is the name and address of the person who authorized sending the STEP file.</p>
         </li>
      </ul>
      <p class="para_division">These boxes are optional and generally not used in practice.</p>
      <p class="para_division">There is no default text for description, author, organization, or authorization.</p>
      <div class="title_division">External reference settings</div>
      <p class="para_division">NX 5 supports export via external references. The parameter in the ugstep203.def and ugstep214.def is EXPORT EXTERNAL REFERENCES, which needs to be set to on to make this feature active. The default setting is off.</p>
      <p class="para_division">Supported external reference formats are STEP and NX. This option can be selected by setting EXPORT EXTERNAL REFERENCE FORMAT to STEP or NX. The default format is STEP. IN either case, the NX assembly information is written as a STEP file. If STEP is selected as the format, then each NX component is translated to STEP as well. If NX is selected, then each component will be referenced by the STEP assembly file and the NX component will not be translated (but made available in the output directory).</p>
