      <p class="para_topic">You can control the NX translators by user-defined options. These options are contained in the settings file, which the translator accesses at execution time.</p>
      <p class="para_topic">The information creates in the settings file in one of three ways. The first is the used of the NX user-interface via <b class="uiTerm">File&rarr;Export</b>. The second is by editing the file with a standard editor and the 3rd is by using the <b class="commandName">UGMENU</b> translator interface.
      </p>
      <p class="para_topic">The settings file is comprised of keyword &ndash; value pairs. Each of the methods to enter into the settings file writes the key word and its associated value. If you use an editor to update the file, you must ensure that you follow the formatting rules documented in the settings file supplied with each translator.</p>
      <p class="para_topic">The default settings file for each of the translators lives in the same directory as the translator executable with a .def file extension.</p>
