      <p class="para_topic">The <b class="uiTerm">Punch</b> is used to model emboss, coin and lance operations across multiple, adjacent placement faces. Open and closed profiles intersecting the periphery of the part are also supported. Several additional capabilities are available, including:
      </p>
      <ul>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">An option to automatically create the <b class="uiTerm">Tool Center Point</b> (centroid).
            </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Automatic projection of the <b class="uiTerm">Tool Center Point</b> down to the <b class="uiTerm">Placement Face</b>.
            </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">An option to define the <b class="uiTerm">Placement Outline</b> as the inside or outside perimeter of the punch.
            </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Automatic identification of <b class="uiTerm">Placement Faces</b> given a user&ndash;supplied seed face
            </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">An option to create a flanged cutout (a.k.a. drawn cutout).</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">An option of creating lance type punches in which one or more sides of the punch are pierced. This capability is commonly used to create louvers.</p>
         </li>
      </ul>
      <p class="para_topic">You can access the <b class="uiTerm">Punch</b> dialog box from <b class="uiTerm">Modeling&rarr;Insert&rarr;Sheet Metal Feature&rarr;Punch</b> or from the <b class="uiTerm">Sheet Metal Feature</b> . To edit a punch, use <b class="uiTerm">Modeling&rarr;Edit&rarr;Feature</b> or the <b class="uiTerm">Edit Feature</b> .

               <p class="para_td">By default, the top of the punch follows the contours of the placement face. The punch will automatically find faces adjacent to the placement face, if needed.</p>

               <p class="para_td">The point, which indicates the center of the punch tool (also known as the <b class="uiTerm">Index Point</b>). The punch direction vector (tool axis) is aligned in relation to this point. In the case of a non&ndash;planar placement face, the reverse face normal vector is calculated at this point after being projected onto the placement face.

               <p class="para_td">The process for producing raised or sunken designs in sheet metal by means of male or female dies; theoretically with no change in metal thickness.</p>
               <p class="para_td">You must specify the placement face, the placement outline, and a non&ndash;negative depth value to create this type of punch. &nbsp;If the auto centroid option is off, then you must select a tool center point as the centroid. Optionally, the die/punch radii, taper angle, and flanged cutout options could be applied to this type of punch.</p>

               <p class="para_td">You must specify the placement face, the placement outline, and a non&ndash;negative depth value to create this type of punch. &nbsp;The depth value should always be less than the target body thickness. &nbsp;If the auto centroid option is off, then you must select a tool center point as the centroid. &nbsp;The die/punch radii, taper angle, and flanged cutout options cannot be applied to this type of punch.</p>

               <p class="para_td">The slitting and forming of a pocket&ndash;shaped opening in a part.</p>
               <p class="para_td">You must specify the placement face, the placement outline, the lance curves, and a non&ndash;negative depth value to create this type of punch.&nbsp;The depth value should always be greater than the target body thickness.&nbsp;If the auto centroid option is off, then you must select a tool center point as the centroid. This punch type can be applied only when two or more curves are selected as the placement outline and there is a minimum of two non&ndash;G1 points between these curves. The curves selected as lance curves will be pierced. The flanged cutout option cannot be applied to this type of punch.</p>

      </table><br><div class="title_division">Procedure</div>
      <p class="para_division">The steps for creating a punch are:</p>
      <ul>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Specify punch type: <b class="uiTerm">Emboss</b>, <b class="uiTerm">Coin</b> or <b class="uiTerm">Lance</b>).
            </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Specify the placement face (seed face).</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Specify the placement outline.</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Select a <b class="uiTerm">Tool Center Point</b>, or specify automatic centroid creation in <b class="uiTerm">Options</b>.
            </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Select the <b class="uiTerm">Lancing Curves</b> from the selected <b class="uiTerm">Placement Outline</b> curves if punch type is <b class="uiTerm">Lance</b>.
            </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Flip the punch side vector, if needed.</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Select a <b class="uiTerm">Top Type</b> (<b class="uiTerm">Offset</b>, <b class="uiTerm">Flat</b>, <b class="uiTerm">Round</b>, <b class="uiTerm">Cone</b>).
            </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Enter a punch depth.</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Enter die radius, taper angle, and punch radius (for <b class="uiTerm">Emboss</b> operations only).
            </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Enter cone depth (for emboss and cone top only).</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Specify a <b class="uiTerm">Punch Direction</b> (tool axis).
            </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Choose <b class="uiTerm">OK</b> or <b class="uiTerm">Apply</b> to create the punch.
