      </table><br><p class="para_topic">You must select the initial flat pattern base face. If the <b class="uiTerm">Traverse Control</b> option is set to <b class="uiTerm">Sheet Metal</b> or <b class="uiTerm">Generic</b>, the application automatically finds all of the faces on the same side of the solid. For each face, it determines if the face should be an area preserving, distortion, or projection face. If the <b class="uiTerm">Traverse Control</b> option is set to <b class="uiTerm">Woven</b> or <b class="uiTerm">None</b>, the system will only select the start face; no traversal of the part occurs. Use the location that you select on the starting face as the starting position for laying out the flat pattern.

                  <p class="para_note_body">If you set the <b class="uiTerm">Traverse Control</b> to <b class="uiTerm">Woven</b>, traverse control will function in the same way as if it were set to <b class="uiTerm">Sheet Metal</b>. You can select or deselect additional faces only as <b class="uiTerm">Area Preserving</b> faces. If the <b class="uiTerm">Traverse Control</b> is set to <b class="uiTerm">None</b>, you may select additional faces as <b class="uiTerm">Area Preserving</b>, <b class="uiTerm">Distortion</b>, or <b class="uiTerm">Projection Faces</b>.

      <p class="para_topic">When you create the flat pattern, the system gives the group of geometry the name that you supply and it creates on the specified layer. These boxes default to the values supplied in <b class="uiTerm">Preferences</b>, and you can change it at any time before creating the flat pattern.
      </p>
      <p class="para_topic">Choose <b class="uiTerm">OK</b> or <b class="uiTerm">Apply</b> to create the flat pattern.

                  <p class="para_note_body">If a flat pattern already exists for the current body, <b class="uiTerm">OK</b> and <b class="uiTerm">Apply</b> will update the current flat pattern.

      <p class="para_topic">While the system creates the flat pattern, you will see a temporary display of points as they map. These temporary points serve as a visual cue to the operation of the flat pattern. When complete, the display removes the points.</p>
      <div class="title_division">Multiple flat patterns</div>
      <p class="para_division">By default, each body can have only one flat pattern. If you attempt to select a starting face for a new flat pattern, the system will warn you that the existing flat pattern will delete.</p>
      <p class="para_division">You can create more than one flat pattern on a body. In order to do this, set the <b class="uiTerm">Allow Multiple Flat Patterns</b> option in the <b class="uiTerm">Flat Pattern Preferences</b> dialog box to on. If a flat pattern exists on a body when you create a new flat pattern, all associativity with the body is broken on the existing flat pattern. Only the newest flat pattern maintains associativity with the body. This is the master flat pattern.
