      </table><br><div class="title_division">Creating the edge rip</div>
      <p class="para_division">The <b class="uiTerm">Edge Rip</b>. will provide the capable of creating a gap in a solid model with uniform thickness. The model must form a shell. The gap will be along any edge between planar, cylindrical or conical faces.
      </p>

      <p class="para_division">The <b class="uiTerm">Edge Rip</b> will always be associative to the parent edge or curve from which it was created. The <b class="uiTerm">Edge Rip</b> will update when changes are made to the parent edge or curve.
      </p>
      <p class="para_division">The new side faces created by the rip are perpendicular to the faces on either side of the original edge.</p>

      <p class="para_division">Select the inside edges of the hollowed solid to create better resulting geometry after ripping. </p>
      <p class="para_division">The preferred minimum gap value should be at least 1/10th of the thickness to ensure successful creation of edge rip feature and succeeding sheet metal operations.</p>
      <p class="para_division">It is important to note that the perpendicularity is maintained only at top faces (such as faces on either side of original rip edge), but, the side faces may not be perpendicular to faces adjacent to top faces. For example, for the part shown, the rip side faces are not perpendicular to the base face. <b class="uiTerm">Edge Rip</b> will inform the user about non&ndash;perpendicularity in such cases (using a <b class="uiTerm">Warning</b> dialog box).
      </p>
      <div class="title_division">Gap values</div>
      <p class="para_division">Large gap values might result in incorrect geometry for non&ndash;linear edges, specify a smaller gap value. </p>
      <div class="title_division">Applying blends</div>
      <p class="para_division">Apply blends before applying <b class="uiTerm">Edge Rip</b> to ensure correct geometry for succeeding sheet metal operations like <b class="uiTerm">Bend</b> and <b class="uiTerm">Unbend/Rebend</b>.
      </p>
      <div class="title_division">Multiple edges</div>
      <p class="para_division">The <b class="uiTerm">Edge Rip</b> lets you select multiple edges to rip. For connected edges (g0/g1 continuity), the result may be different depending on whether all the connected edges were selected to create a single rip feature or multiple rip features. This behavior is the same as the blend. The selection of two edges together will produce a clean cut at the common vertex.
      </p>
      <p class="para_division">If you select two connected edges and one disconnected edge then the creation of two rips occur. The two features will create. During <b class="uiTerm">Edit</b>, you can edit each feature independently. You can only add connected edges during an edit, but you cannot add disconnected edges.

      <div class="title_division">Extension capability</div>
      <p class="para_division"><b class="uiTerm">Edge Rip</b> has an extension capability. The extension will lengthen the rip past the edges by the extension value in both directions when applicable. &nbsp;See the figure below.

      <p class="para_division">There is a start extension and an end extension. If you rip a non&ndash;linear, the extension continues in a linear direction that is tangent to the endpoint of the edge. The <b class="uiTerm">Edge Rip</b> has different end conditions: <b class="uiTerm">Rectangular</b> and <b class="uiTerm">Obround</b>. &nbsp;Rectangular end condition will create a planar face at the end vertex of an edge or end point of a curve. An <b class="uiTerm">Obround</b> end condition will create a cylindrical face at the end. A rectangular end condition will create a planar face at the end.
      </p>
      <div class="title_division">Editing the edge rip</div>
      <p class="para_division">The <b class="uiTerm">Edge Rip Edit</b> and <b class="uiTerm">Create</b> dialog boxes are the same. &nbsp;You can select additional connecting edges or remove edges. &nbsp;The <b class="uiTerm">Edge Rip</b> uses snapshots of edges similar to edge blend feature to facilitate deselecting during edit. &nbsp;<b class="uiTerm">Edge Rip</b> allows you to edit the end condition type (<b class="uiTerm">Rectangular</b> to <b class="uiTerm">Obround</b>) and vice versa.
      </p>
