      <p class="para_topic">It's a common requirement when designing parts to have an array of louvers, dimples, or drawn cutouts. However, due to the construction method used on these features internally, they aren't available for instancing. The following example illustrates how to use punch-type features in an instance array.</p>

         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Open a new part and create a rectangular <b class="uiTerm">Tab</b> on the XC-YC plane with sides of 100 mm and 250 mm. Make sure that the longer side is aligned with the XC axis, and the shorter side aligned with the YC axis.
            </p>

            <p class="para_item">Click <b class="uiTerm">Louver</b>&nbsp;<img align="bottom" src="graphics/louver_ico.gif" border="0">. Create a sketch for the louver as shown below.

            <p class="para_item">When you exit the sketch, you get a solid preview of the <b class="uiTerm">Louver</b> feature. Change the <b class="uiTerm">End Options</b> to <b class="uiTerm">Formed-End Louver</b>. Use a <b class="uiTerm">Depth</b> value of 5 and a <b class="uiTerm">Width</b> value of 10.

            <p class="para_item">Click <b class="uiTerm">OK</b> to complete the <b class="uiTerm">Louver</b>.

            <p class="para_item">To apply an <b class="uiTerm">Instance</b> feature to the <b class="uiTerm">Louver</b>, you have to include it in a <b class="uiTerm">Feature Set</b>. From the menu, choose <b class="uiTerm">Format&rarr;Group Features</b>. Notice that the <b class="uiTerm">Louver</b> feature is included in the list of features available to group. 
            </p>

            <p class="para_item">Choose the <b class="uiTerm">Louver</b> from the list and give it a logical unique name. (We chose LouverGroup(7) because the <b class="uiTerm">Louver</b> feature name was SB Louver (7).) Click the right arrow (<b class="uiTerm">Add</b>) to add the <b class="uiTerm">Louver</b> to the <b class="uiTerm">Feature Set</b>.
            </p>
            <p class="para_item">Once you've created the <b class="uiTerm">Feature Set</b> with the <b class="uiTerm">Louver</b> in it, you can instance the <b class="uiTerm">Feature Set</b>.
            </p>

            <p class="para_item">Choose <b class="uiTerm">Insert&rarr;Associative Copy&rarr;Instance</b>.
            </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Choose LouverGroup(7) as the feature set to instance. Create an instance set with three copies along the X-axis at a distance (<b class="uiTerm">Offset</b>) of 80 mm apart, and three copies along the Y-axis at a distance (<b class="uiTerm">Offset</b>) of 30 mm apart. (Depending on how your part is aligned with the XC and YC axes, you may have to make one or both of the <b class="uiTerm">Offset</b> values negative.)
            </p>

      <p class="para_topic">You can use this same technique when instancing <b class="uiTerm">Dimple</b>, <b class="uiTerm">Bead</b>, and <b class="uiTerm">Drawn Cutout</b> features. You can also use it to instance <b class="uiTerm">Flange</b> features as well, but you need to be careful when positioning instanced flanges so that they Boolean to the base solid properly.
