               <p class="para_td">When this button is active, you can select one or more faces, or a single plane or datum plane, as the <b class="uiTerm">Placement Face</b>. Multiple faces can be from any body in the part, but the faces must be adjacent to each other. The first selected face or associative datum plane identifies the solid or sheet body in which the bead is placed, if an optional target body is not specified. (If you select a fixed plane you must specify a target body.) The rest of the faces can be from any body in the part.

               <p class="para_td">When this button is active, you can select one or more curves as the center line. Multiple curves must be contiguous and must form an open profile. The bead starts at the beginning of the center line and stops at the end of the center line, unless a taper extends the bead. The <b class="uiTerm">Centerline Projection Vector</b> projects curves onto the placement face if they do not already lie on it.

               <p class="para_td">The <b class="uiTerm">Centerline Projection Definition</b> options in the changeable display can help define the vector. If you choose <b class="uiTerm">Normal to String</b>, the curves composing the center line must be coplanar. If you choose <b class="uiTerm">Selected Direction</b>, you must select a defined datum axis. Other <b class="uiTerm">Centerline Projection Definition</b> options are <b class="uiTerm">+XC Axis</b>, <b class="uiTerm">+YC Axis</b>, <b class="uiTerm">+ZC Axis</b>, <b class="uiTerm">Specify New Vector</b>, and <b class="uiTerm">Specified Vector</b> (if you want to reuse a vector that you defined earlier).

               <p class="para_td">When this selection step is active, you can select the <b class="uiTerm">Orientation Plane</b> (one or more planes in which the bead sections will lie). The <b class="uiTerm">Orientation Plane Normal</b> options in the changeable display are available to help you select them.

               <p class="para_td">The <b class="uiTerm">Section Axis</b> controls the orientation of the bead section in the orientation plane. Also, if you create the bead on a solid body, the section axis defines whether the bead will be added to the solid body, or subtracted from it. The <b class="uiTerm">Section Axis</b> options in the changeable display are available to help you select the section axis. (If you choose <b class="uiTerm">Selected Direction</b>, you must select a defined datum axis.)

               <p class="para_td">The <b class="uiTerm">Section Points</b> option allows you to specify points on the center line where the bead is to have the currently displayed cross&ndash;section. You can use a mixture of different cross&ndash;sections at various points along the center line by alternately displaying each section type and then selecting points for that section using this step. Note that the points should be on or near the center line, as they will drop to the nearest location on the center line. The system will remember these points for future updates and will be re&ndash;dropped if the center line is updated. The closest section will repeat at the end when you do not define sections at the center line endpoints. The point options in the changeable display are available to help you select the points. You can deselect points by re&ndash;selecting the specified points for each section type.

               <p class="para_td">&nbsp;If the bead has a u&ndash;shaped cross section, <b class="uiTerm">Secondary Face Definition</b> controls the shape of the bead at its top. (For v&ndash;shaped and circular beads, this button is inactive.) You can select a secondary face directly, or use the options in the <b class="uiTerm">Secondary Face Definition</b> menu (located in the changeable display:

                     <p class="para_item">You can specify a fixed Height for the bead.</p>

                     <p class="para_item">To use <b class="uiTerm">Offset Selected Face</b>, select a face and define an offset (positive or negative) in Distance.
                     </p>

                     <p class="para_item">To use <b class="uiTerm">Translate Selected Face</b>, select a face, choose a vector to define the direction, then enter the <b class="uiTerm">Distance</b>.
                     </p>
                  </li>
                  <li>
                     <p class="para_item">To use <b class="uiTerm">Offset Placement Face</b>, enter an offset (which must be consistent with the direction indicated by the <b class="uiTerm">Section Axis</b>) in <b class="uiTerm">Distance</b> (positive or negative).
                     </p>
                  </li>
                  <li>
                     <p class="para_item">To use <b class="uiTerm">Translate Placement Face</b>, choose a vector to define the direction (which must be consistent with the direction of the Section Axis), then enter the <b class="uiTerm">Distance</b>.

               <p class="para_td">You can select a <b class="uiTerm">Target Body</b> if you want the bead to be in a different body than the one that the first selected placement face belongs to. This is an optional selection, unless you selected a fixed plane as the placement face. You cannot change the <b class="uiTerm">Target Body</b> when editing the bead.
