      </table><br><p class="para_topic">The <b class="uiTerm">Preferences</b> function contains options that enable you to set default preferences for certain general part related parameters, for flat pattern creation, for flat pattern annotation as well as for wire frame flattening.
      </p>
      <div class="title_division">Sheet Metal General Preferences</div>
      <p class="para_division">The <b class="uiTerm">Sheet Metal General Preferences</b> dialog box enables you to do the following:
      </p>
      <ul>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item"><b class="uiTerm">Manage Global Parameter</b> settings for thickness, radius, angle, and bend allowance formulas.
            </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Specify the color to use for reference lines.</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Specify the part material and part thickness.</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Replace the standards file used by your part.</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Enforce creation state editing of features.</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Specify the forming method to use.</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Enable <b class="uiTerm">Sequential Processing</b> in <b class="uiTerm">PIP (Part&ndash;in&ndash;Process)</b>.
            </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Specify the <b class="uiTerm">Bracket Margin</b>.
            </p>
         </li>
      </ul>
      <p class="para_division">While in the Modeling application you can access the <b class="uiTerm">Sheet Metal Design General Preferences</b> dialog box from <b class="uiTerm">Preferences&rarr;Sheet Metal</b>.
      </p>
      <p class="para_division">While in the Sheet Metal Features and Forming/Flattening application, you can access the dialog box from <b class="uiTerm">Preferences&rarr;Sheet Metal Design General</b>.
      </p>
      <div class="title_division">Terminology</div>

               <p class="para_td"><b class="uiTerm">Global Parameters</b></p>

               <p class="para_td">These are parameters that can be set for the entire part. After you set up a global parameter, any feature or application that currently uses it will now use the global parameter. For example, after you have set up a global <b class="uiTerm">Bend Allowance Formula (BAF)</b>, any feature such as a flange or any application such as F<b class="uiTerm">lat Pattern</b> will read the global formula. The button for the <b class="uiTerm">BAF</b> will not be visible on the feature or application's dialog box.
               </p>

               <p class="para_td"><b class="uiTerm">Standards</b></p>
            </td>
            <td bgcolor="#f7f7f7" colspan="1" rowspan="1">
               <p class="para_td"><b class="uiTerm">Standards</b> are a list of values for any given parameter. For example, your company may have a standard list of hole sizes to match the tools carried by the shop floor. You can configure these sizes as a list of standards from which you can select when creating a sheet metal hole.
               </p>

      </table><br><div class="title_division">Procedure</div>
      <p class="para_division">The steps for setting a general sheet metal preference are:</p>
      <ul>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Open the dialog box using either <b class="uiTerm">Preferences&rarr;Sheet Metal</b> from the Modeling application or <b class="uiTerm">Preferences&rarr;SM General</b> from the Sheet Metal Features and Forming/Flattening application.
            </p>
            <p class="para_item">Set the desired preference by turning on the option, entering a value, etc.</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Select <b class="uiTerm">OK</b> or <b class="uiTerm">Apply</b> to save the preferences.
            </p>
         </li>
