      </table><br><p class="para_topic">The flat pattern group does not immediately update when you make a change to the solid body. Instead, the flat pattern group has a delayed update. The flat pattern updates automatically or manually, depending on whether or not you selected <b class="uiTerm">Automatic Update</b> in <b class="uiTerm">Preferences&rarr;Sheet Metal Flat Pattern</b>. If <b class="uiTerm">Automatic Update</b> is on, the flat pattern updates when you choose to enter, or exit, the Sheet Metal Features and Forming/Flattening application.
      </p>
      <p class="para_topic">You may choose to disable automatic updating of the flat pattern by setting the <b class="uiTerm">Automatic Update</b> option in the <b class="uiTerm">Flat Pattern Preferences</b> dialog box to off. If you turn off <b class="uiTerm">Automatic Update</b> you must update the flat pattern manually.
      </p>
      <p class="para_topic">Only the master flat pattern on each solid body in the current work part updates when the flat pattern is updated, either automatically or by choosing <b class="uiTerm">OK</b> or <b class="uiTerm">Apply</b> on the <b class="uiTerm">Flat Pattern</b> dialog box.
      </p>

                  <p class="para_note_body">If a part contains any flat patterns and <b class="uiTerm">Automatic Update</b> is enabled, the flat patterns will automatically update whenever the drawing is updated. &nbsp;If the <b class="uiTerm">Suppress Update View</b> option in <b class="uiTerm">Preferences&rarr;Drafting</b> is off, then such flat patterns will update whenever the Drafting application is entered.

      <div class="title_division">Manual flat pattern update</div>
      <p class="para_division">When you turn off <b class="uiTerm">Automatic Update</b>, you must update the flat pattern manually within the <b class="uiTerm">Flat Pattern</b> dialog box. You can also update the flat pattern manually any time while in the Sheet Metal Features and Forming/Flattening application even if <b class="uiTerm">Automatic Update</b> is on. <b class="uiTerm">Manual Update</b> allows you to make modifications to your flat pattern without having to re&ndash;select everything.
      </p>
      <p class="para_division"><b class="uiTerm">Manual Update</b> will only update the flat pattern on the current body. If the current body has multiple flat patterns, only the master flat pattern will update.
      </p>
      <p class="para_division">When you choose <b class="uiTerm">Tools&rarr;Flat Pattern</b> and a flat pattern exists, the information about that flat pattern, its <b class="uiTerm">Layout Options</b> are loaded into memory and you can manipulate it. Traversal of the part does not take place; only those faces/edges/curves that you used to create the original flat pattern are loaded into the <b class="uiTerm">Layout Options</b>.
      </p>
      <p class="para_division">The <b class="uiTerm">Layout Options</b> portion of the dialog box is available, which allows you to add or remove faces to flattened, and to reclassify faces as area preserving, distortion, etc. You can also add or remove cut edges and additional curves. You can also use <b class="uiTerm">Layout Options</b> to simply verify the faces/edges/curves that flattened during the update process.
      </p>
      <p class="para_division">The <b class="uiTerm">Traverse Body</b> button is useful for manual update. With it you can rerun the traversal of the body from the start face, in order to automatically pick up new faces added to the body. You must be careful, however, if you reclassified faces during the original flat pattern creation. The automatic traversal here will identify faces as area preserving, distortion, etc., just as it did during the original traversal. You also need to re&ndash;select additional curves and possibly cut edges.

                  <p class="para_note_body">You cannot change the flat pattern name or layer during an update. Use <b class="uiTerm">Format&rarr;Attribute&rarr;Name</b> and <b class="uiTerm">Format&rarr;Move to Layer</b> to perform these functions.

      <p class="para_division">Once you have used the <b class="uiTerm">Layout Options</b> to set up how you want the flat pattern updated, you can proceed by pressing <b class="uiTerm">OK</b> or <b class="uiTerm">Apply</b>.
