      </table><br><p class="para_topic">The inset is calculated as the distance from the attachment face to the bend tangent line on the inside face of the flange. In the example shown below, using a given value for bend tangent inset yields different results for the flange inset depending on the design (bend) angle or radius. The general formula is:</p>

      <p class="para_division">The inset is calculated as the distance from the attachment face to the mold line defined by the outside faces of the flange. In the examples shown in the figure below, there are different results for the flange inset depending on the design (bend) angle or radius. The general formula for an angle q, where (&ndash;180 t q t 180), is:</p>
      <p class="para_division">ICALC = tan(q/2) * (t + r)</p>
      <p class="para_division">For values of q where (&ndash;180 w q w 180),</p>
      <p class="para_division">ICALC = t + r</p>

      <p class="para_division">This is very similar to the <b class="uiTerm">Outer Mold Line</b> method and is based on the leg lengths used in DIN Standard 6935 as described in Deutsches Institut fr Normung, DIN 6935: Cold Bending of Flat Rolled Steel Products (English Translation), Berlin, October 1975. As shown below, the same general description and formulas apply except that the break in the formula occurs at 90 instead of 180. Thus, the general formula for an angle q, where (&ndash;90 t q t 90), is:
