      </table><br><p class="para_topic">When defining a new state, you are specifying how the system is to build the surface of the face of the general flange. The system will then apply the <b class="uiTerm">Bend Allowance Formula</b> and the distortion parameters (such as r&ndash;value) to determine the actual shape of this surface. Some parameters, such as thickness, are inherited from the creation state of the feature. You can specify other parameters, such as bend angle, for the given state. The types of parameters required will change with the construction methods.
      </p>
      <p class="para_topic">The parameters require for <b class="uiTerm">Parameters</b>, <b class="uiTerm">Build to Sections</b>, <b class="uiTerm">Build to Faces</b>, and <b class="uiTerm">Punch Vector</b> are identical to those required when creating or editing the general flange. See  <a class="links" href="javascript:void(0)" onclick="top.openFile('sheetmetaldes/smfea_gen_flng.html');return(false);">General Flange</a> for details. You cannot set some items, such as <b class="uiTerm">Bend Edge</b>, <b class="uiTerm">Spine</b>, and <b class="uiTerm">Thickness</b> in the <b class="uiTerm">General Flange State</b> dialog box. Those parameters apply to all states of the General flange and you can only change them through <b class="uiTerm">Modeling&rarr;Edit&rarr;Feature&rarr;Parameters</b>.
      </p>
      <p class="para_topic">The <b class="uiTerm">Surface Extension</b> method is only available in the <b class="uiTerm">General Flange State</b> dialog box. This method causes the underlying surface to create as a tangential extension to the target face. You don't need to specify any additional parameters. If the target face were planar, the resulting general flange state would be planar as well.
      </p>
      <div class="title_division">Edge Constraints</div>
      <p class="para_division">The <b class="uiTerm">Edge Constraints</b> option allows you to specify how the three edges of the general flange not attached to the target face will deform. The two side edges are selectable only if the deformation algorithm for the general flange is set to <b class="uiTerm">Bi&ndash;directional</b>. If this is the case, the far edge will only be selectable when the side edges are constrained. The options for side edge constraints are <b class="uiTerm">None</b>, <b class="uiTerm">Along Section</b>, <b class="uiTerm">Along Profile</b>, and <b class="uiTerm">To Profile</b>. For the far edge, the options are <b class="uiTerm">None</b> and <b class="uiTerm">To Profile</b>. The <b class="uiTerm">Along Section</b> option will force the edge to behave as if the <b class="uiTerm">Along Section</b> deformation algorithm were in force locally. The <b class="uiTerm">Along Profile</b> option will force the edge in question to lie along a user selected profile. The option is similar <b class="uiTerm">To Profile</b>, but the edge is forced to match the profile in length.

      <div class="title_division">Options</div>
      <p class="para_division">The <b class="uiTerm">Options</b> dialog box for <b class="uiTerm">General Flange States</b> is similar to that of <b class="uiTerm">Create</b> or <b class="uiTerm">Edit General Flange</b>. Certain options, however, are not available, such as <b class="uiTerm">Infer Thickness</b>.
