      </table><br><p class="para_topic">Sheet Metal Features and Forming/Flattening uses one or more external Tcl scripts with a file type of .std to define standard values for <b class="uiTerm">Bend Allowance Formulae</b> and <b class="uiTerm">Part Materials</b> in the <b class="uiTerm">Preferences</b> dialog box as well as feature standards on the sheet metal feature <b class="uiTerm">Create</b> and <b class="uiTerm">Edit</b> dialog boxes. The <b class="uiTerm">Standards</b> file resides in a directory that is pointed to by the UGII_UGSMD_STDS_LIBRARY.
      </p>
      <p class="para_topic">The standard values file is read when the Sheet Metal Features and Forming/Flattening application is first entered and when you are creating sheet metal features. You can modify the file externally and reload it with the <b class="uiTerm">Load Standards</b> option on the <b class="uiTerm">Sheet Metal Design General Preferences</b> dialog box.
      </p>
      <p class="para_topic">Other items available on the <b class="uiTerm">Sheet Metal Design General Preferences </b> dialog box include <b class="uiTerm">Use Feature Standards</b> and <b class="uiTerm">Check Standards on Create</b>. If you do not desire to use the sheet metal standards, you can turn off the option called <b class="uiTerm">Use Feature Standards</b>. If this option is off the <b class="uiTerm">Standards</b> arrow options on the <b class="uiTerm">Create</b> and <b class="uiTerm">Edit</b> dialog boxes are inactive.
      </p>
      <p class="para_topic"><b class="uiTerm">Standards</b> can be checked on the sheet metal feature <b class="uiTerm">Create</b> and <b class="uiTerm">Edit</b> dialog boxes by turning on the option called <b class="uiTerm">Check Standards On Create</b>. When <b class="uiTerm">OK</b> or <b class="uiTerm">Apply</b> is selected, if any parameters are found that does not match their standards, a <b class="uiTerm">Warning</b> dialog box displays. This dialog box lists the nonstandard parameters and gives you the choice to continue to create the feature or go back to the feature <b class="uiTerm">Parameters</b> dialog box. This checking is disabled if the <b class="uiTerm">Use Feature Standards</b> option has been turned off.
      </p>
      <p class="para_topic">The interface between the NX dialog boxes and the standards file includes input parameters, allowable output strings, interpreting the output strings, displaying the list of standards and checking standards.</p>
      <div class="title_division">Part level standards</div>
      <p class="para_division"><b class="uiTerm">Part Level Standards</b> are attributes or expressions used throughout Sheet Metal Features and Forming/Flattening. They include material and thickness.
      </p>
      <p class="para_division"><b class="uiTerm">Material Type</b> is a part&ndash;level attribute used to define feature standards with respect to material qualities. Do not use this attribute for any calculations nor does changing this attribute have any affect on the part's geometry.
      </p>
      <p class="para_division">Use the thickness standard to create a NX expression, UG_SMD_THICK, which can be used throughout the modeling process when assigning thickness values to features. It also passes to the standards file when querying and checking feature parameter standards.</p>
      <div class="title_division">Feature level standards</div>
      <p class="para_division">Use feature level standards for defining the size of the feature. The feature standards are as follows:</p>
