      </table><br><p class="para_topic">Type lets you automatically define all the parameters for a specific bead type by selecting a predefined bead type from the <b class="uiTerm">Type</b> option menu. You can define the bead types in a standards file (see  <a class="links" href="javascript:void(0)" onclick="top.openFile('sheetmetaldes/standards_stand_fea.html');return(false);">Feature Standards</a>). After choosing a bead <b class="uiTerm">Type</b>, you can overwrite its values by keying in a new value in the dynamic input box. If you do not define feature standards in the standards file, <b class="uiTerm">Type's</b> label is <b class="uiTerm">User Defined</b>, and the <b class="uiTerm">Option</b> menu is inactive.
      </p>
      <p class="para_topic"><b class="uiTerm">Section Shape</b> lets you specify whether the cross section shape of the bead varies as you move along the center line. <b class="uiTerm">Constant</b> indicates that you use only a single cross section type to construct the bead. Variable allows the cross section to change as you move along the center line. Each of the three types (u&ndash;shaped, v&ndash;shaped, and vircular) may be specified at individual positions on the center line. You define the transition between the cross section types by a cubic function.
      </p>
      <p class="para_topic">A changeable display on the <b class="uiTerm">Bead</b> dialog box contains parameters that change according to the general shape you select for the bead.
      </p>
      <p class="para_topic">For circular beads, <b class="uiTerm">Radius</b>, <b class="uiTerm">Blend Radius</b>, <b class="uiTerm">End Cap Radius</b>, and <b class="uiTerm">Height</b> appear.
      </p>
      <p class="para_topic">For v&ndash;shaped beads, the additional parameters are <b class="uiTerm">Radius</b>, <b class="uiTerm">Blend Radius</b>, <b class="uiTerm">Height</b>, <b class="uiTerm">Angle</b>, <b class="uiTerm">Placement Width</b>, and <b class="uiTerm">End Cap Angle</b>.
      </p>
      <p class="para_topic">For u&ndash;shaped beads, the additional parameters are <b class="uiTerm">Radius</b>, <b class="uiTerm">Blend Radius</b>, <b class="uiTerm">Height</b>, <b class="uiTerm">Angle</b>, <b class="uiTerm">Placement Width</b>, and <b class="uiTerm">Secondary Width</b>.
      </p>
      <p class="para_topic">For u&ndash;shaped beads only, <b class="uiTerm">Angle</b> can be measured from either the section axis (Axis) or the face normals (Normals). This can be set in the dialog box that appears when you choose <b class="uiTerm">Options</b>.
      </p>
      <p class="para_topic"><b class="uiTerm">Secondary Width</b> can be measured either from the top face's theoretical intersections with the bead's sides (Intersect) or from the tangents between the top face and the bead's sides (<b class="uiTerm">Tangents</b>). Intersect is represented by the wider w on the top face of the u&ndash;shaped bead, <b class="uiTerm">Tangents</b> by the top face's narrower w. This can be set in the <b class="uiTerm">Bead Options</b> dialog box (see figure below), which appears when you choose <b class="uiTerm">Options</b>.
      </p>
      <p class="para_topic">Use a <b class="uiTerm">Distance Tolerance</b> value in approximating the curves created internally to build the bead. If the bead fails to build, some type of error message may be given that indicates that it was unable to create the curves. In this case, a looser tolerance might be attempted.
      </p>
      <p class="para_topic">The <b class="uiTerm">Bead Options</b> dialog box lets you specify additional options for controlling how to construct the bead. You base the availability of the options on the bead shape specified on the initial <b class="uiTerm">Bead</b> dialog box.
      </p>
      <ul>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item"><b class="uiTerm">Height</b> appears for all three types of beads. The height can be constant or law controlled. You can also measure the height along the section axis or along the face normals.
            </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item"><b class="uiTerm">Angle</b> options appear for u&ndash;shaped beads only. You can measure the Angle from the section axis or the face normals.
            </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item"><b class="uiTerm">Secondary Width From</b> options appear for u&ndash;shaped beads only. Secondary width can be measured either from the top face's theoretical intersections with the bead's sides (<b class="uiTerm">Theoretical Intersection Point</b>) or from the tangents between the top face and the bead's side (<b class="uiTerm">Tangent Point</b>) Intersect is represented by the wider w on the top face of the u&ndash;shaped bead, and <b class="uiTerm">Tangents</b> by the top face's narrower width.
            </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item"><b class="uiTerm">End Cap</b> options appear for all three types of constant shaped beads. You can define end caps for the <b class="uiTerm">Start</b>, <b class="uiTerm">End</b>, <b class="uiTerm">Both</b>, or <b class="uiTerm">None</b> (for no end caps). The end caps may be specified to fade into the placement face. You can also give a length for the end caps, which will specify the distance used for fading the end caps into the placement face.
            </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item"><b class="uiTerm">Attach Bead</b> appears for all three types of beads. If you decide to attach the bead to a sheet body, the bead will sew to the sheet. If you attach the bead to a solid body, the bead will either be united to or subtracted from (depending on the direction of the section axis) the solid body.

            <p class="para_item"><b class="uiTerm">Hollow Bead</b> appears for all three types of beads. If you decide to attach the bead to a solid body, the bead will remove volume from the face opposite the placement face to maintain a constant thickness. This option is turned off and disabled if <b class="uiTerm">Attach Bead</b> is turned off. This has no effect on sheet bodies.

                        <p class="para_note_body">A bead attached to a solid body, but not hollowed, will produce unexpected results in the flat pattern. This is due to the non&ndash;uniform thickness of the solid body.</p>

      <p class="para_topic">You can define a complete shape before specifying every parameters, because of the impact that some choices have on other parameters. For example, you can either define height or select secondary faces, but not both.</p>
