      <p class="para_topic">Use the <b class="uiTerm">General Flange</b> to create a sheet body or solid body flange along any curved bend edge and planar or non&ndash;planar face. There are several methods with which you can build a general flange.
      </p>
      <ul>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item"><b class="uiTerm">Parameters</b> method: You can define multiple consecutive bend/web areas for a single flange.
            </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item"><b class="uiTerm">Build to Sections</b> method: You can build a general flange from a set of curves that define the cross sections of the flange.
            </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item"><b class="uiTerm">Build to Faces</b> method allows you to define a general flange that matches an input set of faces.
            </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item"><b class="uiTerm">Punch Vector</b> method is similar to <b class="uiTerm">Parameters</b> method, however, the first bend angle is defined such that the cross&ndash;section curves are parallel to a given vector regardless of the construction method, all general flanges are tangent to the tangent faces along the bend edges.

      <p class="para_topic">You can access the <b class="uiTerm">General Flange</b> dialog box from <b class="uiTerm">Modeling&rarr;Insert&rarr;Sheet Metal Feature&rarr;General Flange</b> or from the <b class="uiTerm">Sheet Metal Feature</b> toolbar. To edit a general flange, use <b class="uiTerm">Modeling&rarr;Edit&rarr;Feature</b> or the <b class="uiTerm">Edit Feature</b> toolbar.

               <p class="para_td">This is an edge (or edges) that defines the start of the <b class="uiTerm">General Flange</b> feature.

               <p class="para_td">This edge or curve affects the shape of the general flange. The system constructs a general flange from cross&ndash;sections that are normal to the spine.</p>

               <p class="para_td">Section Curves</p>
            </td>

               <p class="para_td">These curves define the shape of a general flange. The top surface of the general flange will pass through these curves. They are user&ndash;defined while using Build to Sections method and generated by the system in other methods.</p>

      </table><br><div class="title_division">Procedure</div>
      <p class="para_division">All general flanges follow the same basic procedure:</p>

         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Select a bend edge (or continuous edges)</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Verify the target attachment faces and the tangent faces</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Select a spine string (optional)</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Enter construction data (parameters, section curves, shaping faces, punch vector, etc.)</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Enter options such as <b class="uiTerm">Bend Allowance Formula</b>, <b class="uiTerm">r&ndash;Value</b>, and <b class="uiTerm">Distortion</b> method

         </li>
      </ul>
      <p class="para_division">Regardless of the construction method, all general flanges are tangent to the tangent faces along the bend edges.</p>
