      </table><br><p class="para_topic">The <b class="uiTerm">Stock Offset Point</b> creation and editing dialog boxes are accessible by two methods. One is through <b class="uiTerm">Qualify Part</b> when a port is being defined or modified. The second is for spline segment point definition and is available via the <b class="uiTerm">Create Path&rarr;Shape&rarr;Edit Position</b> interface. Both interfaces present a common <b class="uiTerm">SOP Creation</b> dialog box titled <b class="uiTerm">Stock Offset Point</b>.

      <p class="para_topic">The <b class="uiTerm">Stock Offset Point</b> dialog box provides two methods to define an SOP. In the first method, called the <b class="uiTerm">Point Method</b>, the origin, distance and direction are explicitly defined. In the second method, called the <b class="uiTerm">Surface Method</b>, the origin and offset direction are inferred from user selection. The SOP has the same definition using either method where the origin, offset direction and distance drive the SOP.
      </p>
      <div class="title_division">Point method</div>
      <p class="para_division">The <b class="uiTerm">Point Method</b> uses three selections steps; <b class="uiTerm">Origin</b>, <b class="uiTerm">Direction</b>, and <b class="uiTerm">Distance</b>. The origin is defined in Step 1 using the <b class="uiTerm">Snap Point</b> toolbar. Step 2 defines the vector direction of the SOP using the standard <b class="uiTerm">Vector Tool</b>. Step 3 defines the distance as an expression.
      </p>
      <p class="para_division">The default name of the <b class="uiTerm">Distance Expression</b> is whatever the expression subsystem supplies (such as p8). You can change this to any valid expression name.
      </p>
      <p class="para_division">The default <b class="uiTerm">Distance Expression</b> is the <b class="uiTerm">Stock Offset Diameter</b> variable divided by two (MAX_PATH_STOCK_DIA/2). This expression value may be edited in any way, subject to expression syntax rules.

                  <p class="para_note_body">The expression MAX_PATH_STOCK_DIA is the value of the largest diameter stock present at the SOP whenever the update of this SOP occurs. The same expression name is used for all SOPs to carry this meaning. The Routing module dynamically changes the value of this variable as it processes each SOP.</p>

      <div class="title_division">Surface method</div>
      <p class="para_division">The <b class="uiTerm">Surface Method</b> uses two selections steps; <b class="uiTerm">Surface</b> and <b class="uiTerm">Distance Expression</b>. The <b class="uiTerm">Surface</b> is selected in Step 1. Step 2 of the <b class="uiTerm">Surface Method</b> is essentially the same as Step 3 of the <b class="uiTerm">Point Method</b>, in which the distance expression is defined.
