      </table><br><p class="para_topic">Overstock is stock applied over regular stock. The design purpose for overstock may be to insulate, to reduce chaffing, to hold wires together, or any number of reasons. Consider <b class="uiTerm">Overstock</b> to be stock that doe snot connect to anything, whereas stock does make connections.
      </p>
      <p class="para_topic">You may delete overstock when the stock it covers deletes. This depends on the <b class="uiTerm">Routing Preference</b> setting <b class="uiTerm">Delete Overstock Along With Stock</b>. If you turn this option on, the overstock will delete when the stock it is covering is deleted. If you turn this option off the overstock remains. See  <a class="links" href="javascript:void(0)" onclick="top.openFile('routingtools/preferences_preference.html');return(false);">Preferences</a> for further details.
      </p>
      <p class="para_topic">Overstock may exist without having a stock to cover. This happens only if no stock is present over a segment where there is assigned overstock. If an overstock does not cover stock, but stock is assigned, one or more segments to which the overstock is assigned, the overstock automatically assumes the new stock is stock to cover. See  <a class="links" href="javascript:void(0)" onclick="top.openFile('routingtools/cover_stock.html');return(false);"><b class="uiTerm">Covered Stock</b></a> for further details.
      </p>
      <p class="para_topic">When you select a stock to assign that is an overstock type (because it has the defined characteristic OVERSTOCK_TYPE in its part table with a values of <b class="uiTerm">Wrapped</b>, <b class="uiTerm">Flagged</b>, <b class="uiTerm">Sleeved</b>, or <b class="uiTerm">Fixed</b>), then two additional steps are required. When you select the stock to assign, the dialog box appears (if the stock to assign is overstock).
      </p>
      <p class="para_topic">The following steps can be taken:</p>

      </table><br><p class="para_topic">Steps 1 and 2 are the same as described previously for regular stock. </p>
      <p class="para_topic">Please be aware, however, that when selecting segments in Step 2 you are defining the path of the overstock you are creating. You can only define the overstock along those segments that define its path. If for any reason the overstock were to move or lengthen, it can only do so to the extent its own path (for example, the segments selected in Step 2) allows. For this reason, you may want to include additional segments for the overstock's path, even if its original definition does not use them.</p>
      <p class="para_topic">Step 3 is the overstock method where you determine how to apply the overstock. </p>
