               <p class="para_td">When you choose a face, the system uses an offset value to compute a distance normal to the face. The following figure illustrates the selection of point P on a face. The <b class="uiTerm">Face Offset</b> value from the <b class="uiTerm">Create Path</b> dialog box is used to compute a point O, which is normal to the face at point P. Point O defines the position of the RCP created under <b class="uiTerm">Mode None</b>. Under <b class="uiTerm">Axis Parallel</b> mode, an offset plane through O normal to vector N is used to calculate the new RCP. The RCP creates at the intersection point between the offset plane and the Axis Parallel Line. If the offset plane and the <b class="uiTerm">Axis Parallel Line</b> are collinear then the position O is projected onto the <b class="uiTerm">Axis Parallel Line</b> as in the figure below.

               <p class="para_td">New RCPs create on the <b class="uiTerm">Axis Parallel Line</b> (figure below). <b class="uiTerm">Create Path</b> is in <b class="uiTerm">Axis Parallel</b> mode whenever <b class="uiTerm">Axis Parallel</b> is set to XC, YC, ZC, Port, View X and Y or View X or Y. The XC, YC, and ZC options define the <b class="uiTerm">Axis Parallel Line</b> parallel to the respective WCS axis. The <b class="uiTerm">Port Parallel</b> mode may only be set when the current RCP is on a Port. In <b class="uiTerm">Port Parallel</b> mode the <b class="uiTerm">Axis Parallel Line</b> is parallel to the alignment vector of the port. The options View X and Y and View X or Y provide the ability to create path segments using a view plane horizontal or vertical reference in a single or multiple view layout.
               </p>

               <p class="para_td"><b class="uiTerm">Axis Parallel Line</b> with Axis Parallel Set to XC
               </p>
               <p class="para_td">When in <b class="uiTerm">Axis Parallel</b> mode the selected object will determine the position of the new RCP on the <b class="uiTerm">Axis Parallel Line</b>. If a screen position, point, RCP, or when you select a position from <b class="uiTerm">Point Constructor</b> then the point on the <b class="uiTerm">Axis Parallel Line</b> closest to the selected position defines the position of the new RCP.
               </p>
               <p class="para_td"><b class="uiTerm">Axis Parallel Point Projection</b></p>

               <p class="para_td">If you select a Port, closed arc, circular edge, or a drive curve then the associated vector is used. The point on the <b class="uiTerm">Axis Parallel Line</b> closest to the line, defined by the associated vector, defines the position of the new RCP. You define associated vectors as follows: the alignment vector of ports, the Z&ndash;axis vector for closed arcs or circular edges, and the tangent vector of the end closest to the selected position on a drive curve. If you do not want the associated vector considered, use <b class="uiTerm">Point Constructor</b> to select the object.
               </p>

               <p class="para_td">The figure above shows a 2D example of using an associated vector. &nbsp;If the line defined by the associated vector and the <b class="uiTerm">Axis Parallel Line</b> are not on the same place then the new RCP is still the point on the <b class="uiTerm">Axis Parallel Line</b> closest to the line defined by the associated vector. If the line defined by the associated vector is parallel with the <b class="uiTerm">Axis Parallel Line</b>, then the associated position projects onto the <b class="uiTerm">Axis Parallel Line</b> as defined above. The associated positions define as follows: the position of a port, the center point of closed arcs or circular edges, and the end point of the selected follow curve closest to the selected position.
               </p>
               <p class="para_td">The description of <b class="uiTerm">Face Selection</b> under <b class="uiTerm">Axis Parallel</b> mode is in <b class="uiTerm">Face Offsets</b>.

               <p class="para_td">View X or Y</p>
               <p class="para_td">The segment created is either horizontal or vertical with respect to the view&ndash;plane of a layout view. You might start, for example, by first creating or selecting a starting RCP in one view, and then pick the other end of the segment in a different view and so on. Each segment creates horizontally or vertically with respect to the viewing plane used to create or select the terminating RCP. </p>
               <p class="para_td">A <b class="uiTerm">Dual&ndash;Segment</b> option allows the simultaneous creation of two segments, one horizontal and one vertical that connects the starting RCP and a selected point where a new RCP is generated or selected. You can designate two possible choices, <b class="uiTerm">Horiz&ndash;Vert</b> (horizontal then vertical) or <b class="uiTerm">Vert&ndash;Horiz</b> (vertical then horizontal).

               <p class="para_td">Mode: <b class="uiTerm">Dynamic Axis</b></p>

               <p class="para_td">An easy method to create rectilinear paths. This mode is not available until a start point is established. Drag handles position at the start point when you choose <b class="uiTerm">Dynamic Axis</b> mode. &nbsp;The drag handles remain at the end of the last segment created, available to create the next segment.
               </p>
               <p class="para_td">Using the drag handles you can grab one of the axis handles with the cursor and drag in that direction to create a segment. Dynamic input boxes appear in the graphics window so you can enter specific values when necessary. You can rotate the handles to create corners other than 90&deg;.</p>
               <p class="para_td">The <b class="uiTerm">Dynamic Axis</b> mode offers a method to create sloped paths. &nbsp;Choose to specify the slope by:
               </p>
               <ul>
                  <li>
                     <p class="para_item">Degrees &ndash; enter the value for the number of degrees of slope.</p>
                  </li>
                  <li>
                     <p class="para_item">Percentage &ndash; enter a value for the percentage of slop. For example, a 10% slope results in a slope of 1 for every 10 units of segment length.</p>
                  </li>
                  <li>
                     <p class="para_item">Ratio &ndash; enter a ratio for a:b. For example, the ratio 1:10 results in a slope of 1 for every 10 units of segment length.</p>
                  </li>
               </ul>
               <p class="para_td">A positive slope value corresponds to a rise and a negative slope angle corresponds to a drop. The system calculates the rise or drop as CCW in a plane determined by the Routing <b class="uiTerm">Down</b> direction vector and the axis handle currently being dragged. You can change the down direction via the <b class="uiTerm">Preferences</b> dialog box.
               </p>
               <p class="para_td">The idea of the down direction is to indicate the direction of gravity in the routing part. Down direction is stored with the part once defined, so you can use different down directions in different parts. &nbsp;In case the down direction and dynamic axis direction are parallel (vertical run), the slope values are ignored.</p>
