      <p class="para_topic">Include entries in the <b class="uiTerm">Component Navigator</b> for the two components to which the shielding connection wire attaches. If connecting to a backshell, then the list the backshell as a connector. If connecting to a connector, then list the connector (although there is the assumption that the connector would be included otherwise to support regular wires connecting to it).
      </p>
      <p class="para_topic">Include the shield connection component, whether virtual or physical, in the component list. <b class="uiTerm">Shield Connection</b> components are assigned their Reference Designators (Pin Ids) using the <b class="uiTerm">Component Navigator</b> interface, the same as other electrical components are assigned.
      </p>
      <p class="para_topic">For example, if the format for the component list is:</p><pre class="indent">connecotr_id, string
part_name, string</pre><p class="para_topic">Then the entry for the shield connection component could be:</p><pre class="indent">SHIELD_1, 12345678</pre><p class="para_topic">when SHIELD_1 is the reference designator and 12345678 is the part number. For a virtual shield connection component, you can leave Part Number blank. Since the component is not attached to a device, the unique_id box is blank.</p>
      <p class="para_topic">The entry for a backshell could be:</p><pre class="indent">BACKSHELL_1, 87654321</pre><div class="title_division"> Connection Navigator (.hrn) content</div>
      <p class="para_division">A key assumption is that the connection between the shielding and the connector or backshell is achieved using a length of wire and that wire is included in the <b class="uiTerm">Connection Navigator</b> (.hrn). Include an entry in the connection list to define a wire for each shield connection.
      </p>
      <p class="para_division">Either the <em>from connector</em> or the <em>to connector</em> is the shield connection component. The other component (from or to) would be the backshell or connector.
      </p>
      <p class="para_division">Treat a backshell as a device (from_comp or to_comp), not as a connector (from_conn or to_conn). If the system treats it as a connector then the formboard does not lay out properly.</p>
      <p class="para_division">Assume the <b class="uiTerm">Connection Navigator import format</b> is:

      <p class="para_division">Subdivide the segment leading to the backshell or connector at the location at which you would like the end of the wire connecting the shield to be located. Use the Routing <b class="uiTerm">Place Part</b> tool to place the shield connection component on the RCP created by the <b class="uiTerm">Subdivide Path</b> operation. The <b class="uiTerm">Fixture Port</b> should point towards the component.
