      <p class="para_topic">You can define the default read and write settings, and to specify a default Read/Write directory when working in NX. This directory also defines where any log files or reports are generated by PCB.xchange.</p>
      <p class="para_topic">When you start the PCB.xchange application, all settings are identical to those on the PCB.xchange window's File Settings dialog box. If you make a change in one of these settings, it is applied during the current NX session. (To save changes, you must use the File Settings dialog box in the PCB.xchange window.)</p>

            <p class="para_item">Adjust the options and file locations as required. </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Click <b class="uiTerm">OK</b> to apply the settings and close the dialog box. 
            </p>

            <p class="para_item"><b>Save Settings&nbsp;&mdash;&nbsp;</b>Clicking this button saves current file settings, as well as the current settings in the View Settings dialog box, so that PCB.xchange retains the settings even after it is closed and reopened. If you do not click  <b class="uiTerm">Save Settings</b>, the previous settings are restored when PCB.xchange is restarted. 
            </p>

            <p class="para_item"><b>ECAD Board File Extension&nbsp;&mdash;&nbsp;</b>enter a default file extension for filtering the contents of the selected directory and for default board file naming when writing an ECAD file. Type in the characters only; do not type the period (&quot;.&quot;).

         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item"><b>ECAD Library File Extension&nbsp;&mdash;&nbsp;</b>enter a default file extension for library file naming when writing an ECAD file. Type in the characters only; do not type the period (.) 
            </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item"><b>ECAD Write Units Default&nbsp;&mdash;&nbsp;</b>select millimeters or thou-inches, to set the default units for write operations. CAD dimensions in other units are converted to the specified units. 
            </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item"><b>Read/Write Directory&nbsp;&mdash;&nbsp;</b>type in a path to specify a default directory for Import/Export and Read/Write operations, or browse to a directory by selecting the file button next to the field. This directory also defines the location of all log and report files generated by PCB.xchange. 
            </p>

            <p class="para_item"><b>The Error Checking option&nbsp;&mdash;&nbsp;</b>controls this function when importing or exporting. This enables you to turn off this functionality in the event that false error messages interfere with work. 
            </p>
