You can use keep-out area attributes to designate a part of a board as a keep-out area and to set its attributes. A keep-out area defines a region on top or bottom surface of the PCB in which certain characteristics are forbidden. An example would be defining an area in which routing vias may not be placed. The IDF3 attributes for keep-out areas are Type, Height, Owner, and Layers.

You can apply the keep-out area attributes to a sketch on either the top or bottom surface of the board. This sketch defines the size and shape of the keep-out area. You can define the sketch using the Modeling application. You can later modify the keep-out area's shape by modifying the sketch's shape. To delete the keep-out area, simply delete the sketch.
