      </table><br><p class="para_topic">Whenever you align a port with an existing path or another port, it attaches to the path or port. When you attach ports to other ports, the ports no longer display, indicating that a connection has been made.</p>
      <p class="para_topic">You can control the display and size of ports through the <b class="uiTerm">Display</b> tab of <b class="uiTerm">Preferences&rarr;Routing</b>.
      </p>
      <div class="title_division">Port extension length</div>
      <p class="para_division"><b class="uiTerm">Port Extension Length</b> serves two purposes, depending on the type of segment that attaches to the port. &nbsp;If a linear segment, the <b class="uiTerm">Extension Length</b> is used by <b class="uiTerm">Heal Path</b> to provide default values for the start and end values presented in the <b class="uiTerm">Heal Path</b> dialog box.
      </p>
      <p class="para_division">If the attached segment is a spline, the <b class="uiTerm">Port Extension Length</b> is the distance the spline segment must remain straight as it approaches the port. This applies only to spline segments. If an extension length of 5 is used, then the spline segment will be straight for at least 5 units before it bends
      </p>
      <div class="title_division">Back extension</div>
      <p class="para_division">A <b class="uiTerm">Back Extension</b> is defined for a <b class="uiTerm">Fixture Port</b> only. Similar to <b class="uiTerm">Extension</b>, the <b class="uiTerm">Back Extension</b> determines the length along which a spline segment must remain straight as it passes behind a <b class="uiTerm">Fixture Port</b>.
      </p>
      <p class="para_division">The normal <b class="uiTerm">Extension Length</b> determines the length the spline must remain straight in the direction of the <b class="uiTerm">Port Alignment Vector</b>. The back extension length is the length the spline segment must remain straight in the direction opposite the direction of the alignment vector.
      </p>
      <p class="para_division">An example of using a fixture port with these values is a clamp that a flexible tube passes through. If both the extension length and back extension length each have a value of 5, then the spline segment passing through this clamp must be straight for 10 units.</p>
      <div class="title_division">Allow multiple connections (Routing Electrical only)</div>
      <p class="para_division">In Routing Electrical, you may designate a port to be a multiple connection port. Defining a port as a multi-connection allows multiple wires to be routed to that port during <b class="uiTerm">Auto Route</b> and <b class="uiTerm">Manual Route</b>. Disallowing multiple connections means that only a single wire may be routed to that port during <b class="uiTerm">Auto Route</b> and <b class="uiTerm">Manual Route</b>. If <b class="uiTerm">Allow Multiple Connections</b> is not checked, the following ports have at most the following connections:
      </p>

            <p class="para_item">Fitting Port: One (1) connection.</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Fixture Port: One (1) connection.</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Multiport: One (1) connection per terminal and one (1) for the multiport itself.</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Terminal Port: One (1) connection. <b class="uiTerm">Allow Multiple Connections</b> is inherited from the parent multiport.

         </li>
      </ul>
      <div class="title_division">Spool delimiter</div>
      <p class="para_division">In Routing Mechanical, you may designate a port to be a spool delimiter. Defining a port as a spool delimiter causes the <b class="uiTerm">Detect Spools</b> function (available through the <b class="uiTerm">Run Navigator</b>) to end and/or begin a spool at the port. Typically piping flanges have ports designated to be <b class="uiTerm">Spool Delimiters</b>.
      </p>
      <div class="title_division">Flow direction</div>
      <p class="para_division">In Routing Mechanical, a port may have a <b class="uiTerm">Flow Direction</b> assigned to it. The flow may be <b class="uiTerm">Either</b>, <b class="uiTerm">In</b>, <b class="uiTerm">Out</b> or <b class="uiTerm">None</b>. &nbsp;<b class="uiTerm">Either</b>, the default setting, allows flow in either direction. <b class="uiTerm">In</b> allows flow into the port only. <b class="uiTerm">Out</b> allows flow out of the port only. <b class="uiTerm">None</b> allows no flow through the port.
