      </table><br><p class="para_topic">First, the two components, the part just placed and the mating flange parts are highlighted. The <b class="uiTerm">Bolting Options</b> dialog box &nbsp;then displays to allow you to make choices about the connection. This dialog box has three groups:
      </p>

            </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item"><b class="uiTerm">Bolt</b> group
            </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item"><b class="uiTerm">Nuts</b> group
            </p>
         </li>
      </ul>
      <div class="title_division">Gasket group</div>
      <p class="para_division">The gasket group determines if the gasket is to be modeled and if it is to be reported on the Bill of Materials (BOM). If the flanges are ring joint flanges, determined by the value of the FACE_TYPE characteristic, then the <b class="uiTerm">Ring Joint</b> line is darkened and the <b class="uiTerm">Gasket</b> line not available. Otherwise, the <b class="uiTerm">Gasket</b> line is darkened and the <b class="uiTerm">Ring Joint</b> line is not available.
      </p>
      <p class="para_division">Both the <b class="uiTerm">Gasket</b> line and the <b class="uiTerm">Ring Joint</b> line show the setting for the type, as read from the current preference settings.
      </p>

               <p class="para_td">The <b class="uiTerm">Model in Assembly</b> option indicates if the gasket (or ring joint gasket) is to be modeled. If it's on, then the flange, which was just placed is moved back away from the mating flange a distance equal to the thickness of the compressed gasket and a gasket component is placed between them. If the option is off, the flanges are left, positioned as they are.
               </p>

               <p class="para_td"><b class="uiTerm">Report on BOM</b></p>

               <p class="para_td">The <b class="uiTerm">Report On BOM</b> option determines if the gasket is to appear on the parts list. This is independent of the <b class="uiTerm">Model In Assembly</b> option.
               </p>

      <p class="para_division">The first line of the bolts group reads <b class="uiTerm">Bolts</b> on the left and shows the current bolt material as read from the preference setting. Bolts are never modeled but may still be accounted for on the BOM. The number of bolts is read from the gasket part table and reported according to the options chosen is this group.
      </p>

               <p class="para_td">The <b class="uiTerm">Bolts</b> group has a list, which provides the following choices: <b class="uiTerm">Bolts</b> (to add bolts); <b class="uiTerm">Studs</b> (to add studs); or <b class="uiTerm">None</b> (no bolting information).
               </p>

               <p class="para_td">The next three lines: <b class="uiTerm">Base Length</b>, <b class="uiTerm">Add On Length</b>, and <b class="uiTerm">Bolt Length</b>, are concerned with the length of bolt used. <b class="uiTerm">Base Length</b> is the minimum recommended length of bolt, calculated as follows: Bolt Base Length Calculation Base_Length =

               <p class="para_td"><b class="uiTerm">Add On Length</b></p>

               <p class="para_td"><b class="uiTerm">Add On Length</b> is the value added to the bolt's base length to determine a new minimum length. The value defaults to the value read from preferences but you may change this for the connection (without affecting the preferences value setting).
               </p>

               <p class="para_td"><b class="uiTerm">Bolt Length</b></p>

               <p class="para_td"><b class="uiTerm">Bolt Length</b> derives by adding the <b class="uiTerm">Base Length</b> and the <b class="uiTerm">Add On Length</b> to yield the minimum bolt length. The bolt part table is then searched for the bolt which has a length equal to the minimum length or, if there is none, the next longer bolt. The search includes matching the bolt material and thread type as specified in <b class="uiTerm">Piping Preferences</b>, as well as the right diameter for this connection. If no such bolt is found, a warning message is given.
               </p>
