      <p class="para_topic">When you choose the <b class="uiTerm">Edit Points</b> button, the menu offers three actions, <b class="uiTerm">Move Points</b>, <b class="uiTerm">Add Points</b>, and <b class="uiTerm">Edit Extensions</b>.
      </p>
      <p class="para_topic"><b class="uiTerm">Move Points</b> lets you pick a through point and drag to reposition on screen. If you lock the segment length, the picked point will not move beyond that allowed by the length constraints. You may need to unlock the length. You can drag components that impose port constraints to reposition then ends of the segments.

                  <p class="para_note_body">If the point is associative to some point definition, constraint needs to snap to a smart point or a port you will have to select the object to snap to next. If you cannot reposition a through point to the desired location, the spline length may be unlocked to get this to happen. The following figure illustrates an added fixture port as a constraint. The first screen pick causes a through point to add on the spline at a point closest to the pick. Selecting the fixture port next causes the added constraint to define by the port. Note that adding the port constraint will subdivide the old segment at the port location and create two new segments in its place.</p>

      <p class="para_topic">The <b class="uiTerm">Add Points</b> mode of <b class="uiTerm">Edit Points</b> allows additional <b class="uiTerm">Through Points</b> to be added to the path segment. Adding more points allows more control over the shape.

                  <p class="para_warning_body">The order in which you assign <b class="uiTerm">Through Points</b> to a spline segment is important. If the order is wrong, the spline may loop back upon itself, which may not be immediately evident. Avoid adding points within the area of an extension length near a port. The extension length maintains through system created <b class="uiTerm">Through Points</b> so adding more points in this area will not give desirable results.

      <div class="title_division">Lock Length</div>

      <p class="para_division">Entering a length value and choosing <b class="uiTerm">Apply</b> lengthens or shortens the segment by adding or removing uniformly distributed slack. You cannot set the length to less than the summation of minimum distances between each pair of constraint points. Checking the <b class="uiTerm">Lock Length</b> option will lock the length of the spline on <b class="uiTerm">Apply</b>.

                  <p class="para_note_body">Locking the length of a segment forces the spline over which the segment follows to remain the same length. This may affect adjoining segments if they follow the same underlying spline (which comes about through subdividing a spline segment).</p>

      <div class="title_division">Assign slack</div>

      <p class="para_division">Slack can be assigned to a segment provided its length is not locked (slack options are grayed out if it is locked). The calculation of the length of a segment with slack bases on the slackless length. The slackness length is the calculated length of the segment if it were to fulfill its constraints, using a degree of 3 at most. There are two methods available to specify the amount of slack added:</p>
      <ul>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item"><b class="uiTerm">% Length</b> &ndash; The percentage of the slackless segment length.
            </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item"><b class="uiTerm">Distance</b>: As a specific length value beyond the slackless length.
            </p>
         </li>
      </ul>
      <p class="para_division">The following figure illustrates a spline before and after slack assignment.</p>

            <p class="para_item">You can specify slack direction by launching the <b class="uiTerm">Vector Constructor</b> dialog box via the <b class="uiTerm">Specify Slack Direction Vector</b>.

            <p class="para_item"><b class="uiTerm">Reset Slack Direction</b> will restore the slack direction of the FLS to that Specified in <b class="uiTerm">Preferences</b>.
            </p>
