      <p class="para_topic">The Default Component Settings dialog box allows you to specify parameters for default component creation, as well as the location of the Thermal Database file containing component specs indexed by individual reference designators, package names and part numbers.</p>
      <p class="para_topic">Component definitions in the  Thermal Database file take precedence over the default component values defined on this dialog box, which in turn take precedence over definitions in the definitions in the Default Thermal Data file <i class="fileName">pcbx_ug_thermal.xml</i> .
      </p>
      <p class="para_topic">You can also define how the thermal model builder applies heat loads defined in the  Default Thermal Data file or the Thermal Database file.</p>

      <p class="para_topic">To specify the default component settings:.</p>

         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Choose <b class="uiTerm">Thermal Analysis</b>&rarr;<b class="uiTerm">Component Settings</b></p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Specify the location of the <b class="uiTerm">Thermal Database File</b>. 
            </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item"><b class="uiTerm">Default Component Element Size</b> specifies size for the elements of components if this value is not defined for a given component in the  Thermal Database file. 
            </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item"><b class="uiTerm">Default Component Element Color </b> specifies the color for the elements of components that are not defined in the Thermal Database file.
            </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item"><b class="uiTerm">Default Component Shape</b> specifies whether you want to use the actual geometry or to simplify the component shape to a rectangle, if this choice is not defined for a given component in the Thermal Databas efile. 
            </p>
         </li>
      </ol>
      <div class="title_division"> Options</div>
      <p class="para_division">The Options listed below apply to component heat loads defined in the  Default Thermal Data file or the Thermal Database file.</p>
      <ul>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item"><b class="uiTerm">Default Component Mesh Type</b> specifies how PCB.xchange meshes the component, and how the component's heat load is coupled to the board.
            </p>
            <p class="para_item"><b>None&nbsp;&mdash;&nbsp;</b>creates no mesh for the component, but rather spreads the heat load evenly over all the elements in the board.
            </p>
            <p class="para_item"><b>Case&nbsp;&mdash;&nbsp;</b>meshes the case of the component and couples the case mesh to the board mesh.
            </p>
            <p class="para_item"><b>Case + Junction&nbsp;&mdash;&nbsp;</b>meshes both the case and the junction of the component, then couples the junction mesh to the case mesh, and the case mesh to the board mesh.
            </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item"><b class="uiTerm">Power Rating</b> allows you to select  <b class="uiTerm">Operational</b> or <b class="uiTerm">Maximum</b> power output for the component, provided both of these values are defined for a component in the  Default Thermal Data file or the Thermal Database file. If you select an option that is undefined for that component, a warning is issued on FEM export.
            </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item"><b class="uiTerm">Multiplying Factor for Heat Loads</b> allows you to factor in environmental or other global variables that may affect overall heat generation.
            </p>
         </li>
