The fourth and final step of the Assign Stock dialog box using Overstock is to specify which stocks or overstocks the new overstock is to cover. This is not always obvious since there may be multiple stocks along the path, perhaps nested, and additional overstocks that may be covered. By default overstock covers the outermost stock.

The lower window lists all the stocks that are covered with a check box beside each. You choose which of these to cover by checking or unchecking the box in each row. Checked stock will be covered, unchecked stocks are not. Initially all boxes are checked.

By default, the system selects all stocks present. If you choose OK or Apply in Step 3 (the previous step), this step is skipped and the overstock covers all stock and overstock.

If no stock to cover is checked on (either you have unchecked them all or there is no stock present), the overstock is modeled with a minimal default diameter. Subsequently, if a stock is assigned to the segments the overstock automatically covers the new stock. This allows you to assign overstock before stock assigns. In Routing Electrical (wiring) the overstock automatically covers a bundle when wires are routed, provided the overstock has no stock to cover previously defined (for example, if overstock is assigned to cover conduit it will not change to cover the bundle).
