      <p class="para_topic">You can edit certain characteristics through <b class="uiTerm">Edit Characteristics</b>, accessed from the<b class="uiTerm"> Routing Mechanical</b> toolbar. You can edit all <b class="uiTerm">Required</b> and <b class="uiTerm">Optional</b> characteristics (if any, defined by the APV file). The characteristic ROUTING_LEVEL is always available in the <b class="uiTerm">Edit Characteristics</b> dialog box.

      <div class="title_division">Routing level characteristic</div>
      <p class="para_division">The <b class="uiTerm">Routing Level</b> characteristic is always assigned (the default is 0) and may be edited using <b class="uiTerm">Edit Characteristics</b>. Refer to  <a class="links" href="javascript:void(0)" onclick="top.openFile('routingtools/nested_stock.html');return(false);">Nested Stock</a> for information about <b class="uiTerm">Routing Levels</b>.

      <div class="title_division">Required and optional characteristics</div>
      <p class="para_division">Use<b class="uiTerm"> Edit Characteristics</b> to change <b class="uiTerm">Required</b> and <b class="uiTerm">Optional</b> characteristics of selected routing objects (as defined in the <b class="uiTerm">Application View File</b>). Select the routing objects to edit using the standard  <a class="links" href="javascript:void(0)" onclick="top.openFile('routingtools/paths_routing.html');return(false);">Routing Object Selection</a> dialog box.
      </p>
      <p class="para_division">The <b class="uiTerm">Edit Characteristics</b> dialog box shows all the <b class="uiTerm">Required</b> and <b class="uiTerm">Optional</b> characteristics common to all the selected routing objects. If the selected objects have the same value for a particular characteristic then the characteristic initializes to that value. If the values differ then the characteristic value remains blank. If you select only one object, then all characteristics appear with their current values.
      </p>
      <p class="para_division">You can assign values entered for any of the characteristics to all the selected objects when you choose <b class="uiTerm">OK</b>. If a value remains blank then the associated characteristic values are unchanged.
      </p>
      <p class="para_division">It is possible to choose a reference object. All characteristics and respective values copy from the reference object to the previously selected objects. Characteristics not defined by the reference object are not affected. The <b class="uiTerm">Edit Characteristics</b> dialog box re&ndash;displays with the new set of characteristic titles and values.
