This results in a parts list that is similar to an Itemized Routing BOM, when PART_NUMBER is the key box. However, if you do not make routing stock parts permanent (by renaming them), the stocks have the same PART_NUMBER attribute assigned to them as designated in the stock part table. These temporary parts will automatically collapse into a single line when sorting on the PART_NUMBER attribute. A STOCK_NUMBER attribute is added to each stock component that is created and corresponds to the PART_NUMBER attribute from the stock part table. You can make this field and sort on it. This causes the Parts List to behave like the Summarized option in the Routing BOM.

Routing automatically calculates and adds a length attribute to stock. The attribute name is LENGTH. It has a real value, which represents the cut length for an individual section of stock. To report the cut length in a parts list, add the LENGTH attribute to the set of attributes included in the parts list. Parts list will let you report this attribute under any heading. Parts list will then sum the cut length values for all stock with the same part number.

The calculation of the cut length also takes into consideration any length modification characteristics that add/subtract specific amounts to/from the modeled length. They also permit the modification of the calculated length by an overall multiplication factor. The length modification characteristics are:
