Before exporting the NX model to ECAD or reading it into PCB.xchange, you should validate the PCB assembly. Validation catches any modeling problems before you leave NX, ensuring a smooth translation into ECAD. It is also useful for keeping a record of the translation.

When you click the Info/Validate PCB Assembly button, the software analyzes the current assembly and creates a report in HTML format describing the board, the components and other aspects of the assembly. Modeling features not writable to ECAD are identified. The HTML file is saved in the scratch directory under the name pcbm_[boardname].html, where [ boardname] is the name of the board in NX. The software overwrites the validation log file the next time you execute the Info/Validate PCB command. To preserve the file, rename it or move it to another directory.

You can view the file in the Web Browser tab of the Resource Bar on the right side of the NX interface. In the Web Browser pane, any detected errors are listed at the beginning of the report. When you click the listed error, the report automatically scrolls to the location of the associated component, which is highlighted for ease of identification.
