      </table><br><p class="para_topic">The Routing Mechanical application defines a callback program for the <b class="uiTerm">Place Part User Exit</b> of Routing. An entry in the default application view file, ugroute_mech.apv, specifies that an internal program is used for the <b class="uiTerm">Place Part Callback</b> program. This program manages the Routing Mechanical specific functions of placing a fitting into a (piping) run.&nbsp;Your site may define a different program to be used (or none at all).
      </p>
      <p class="para_topic">If a flange is placed that creates a butt weld flange-to-flange connection then the <b class="uiTerm">Place Part Callback</b> function accounts for the weld gap between the two flanges.
      </p>
      <p class="para_topic">If a flange is placed into a routing, which creates a bolted flange-to-flange connection, the <b class="uiTerm">Place Part Callback</b> function does special processing to account for the gasket, bolts, and nuts included in the connection.
      </p>
      <div class="title_division">Part table interaction</div>
      <p class="para_division">The <b class="uiTerm">Flange Connection</b> program makes use of characteristics that are assigned during <b class="uiTerm">Place Part</b>, as defined by the Part Table of the component being placed. For example, the type of gasket to be added for a flange-to-flange connection is determined by characteristics of flanges (NPS and FACE_TYPE). The gasket part table, pipe_gasket.ptb, contains the information necessary to determine the type and number of bolts to be used.       </p>
      <p class="para_division">If custom PTB files are to be used instead of or in addition to the standard part tables, care must be taken to retain the existing characteristics defined in the standard part tables. Failure to do so may result in erroneous results or errors. Additional characteristics may be defined, but those defined in the standard part tables must be retained.</p>
      <div class="title_division">Accessing flange connection</div>
      <p class="para_division">The <b class="uiTerm">Place Part Callback</b> program is invoked automatically whenever <b class="uiTerm">Place Part</b>, accessed through the <b class="uiTerm">Routing</b> toolbar, places a fitting component in a run.
      </p>
      <p class="para_division"><b class="uiTerm">Place Part Callback</b> carries out further operations for a flange-to-flange connection under the following circumstances:
      </p>
      <ul>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">The part was placed onto a port which has the characteristic titled CONNECTION_TYPE with the value BUTT_WELD or BW, and that port became connected to a port on the placed part, which has a characteristic matching these same criteria. See Butt Weld Flange-to-Flange Connection below.</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">The part was placed onto a port which has the characteristic titled CONNECTION_TYPE with the value &quot;FLANGED&quot;, and that port became connected to a port on the placed part, which has a characteristic matching these same criteria.</p>
         </li>
      </ul>
      <div class="title_division">Butt weld flange-to-flange connection</div>
      <p class="para_division">A butt weld connection occurs when the port of the placed flange is seen to have a characteristic named CONNECTION_TYPE with a value of BUTT_WELD (or BW) and the port to which it connects has the same characteristic and value. If the <b class="uiTerm">Piping Preference Model Weld Gap</b> is turned on at the time the part is placed, then the placed part is moved back from the part to which it is being connected to allow for the weld gap. The distance the part is moved back is determined as the minimum value of given by the characteristic WELD_GAP found on either of the two ports being connected. If neither of the two ports have a characteristic named WELD_GAP, the value of the <b class="uiTerm">Piping Preference Weld Gap</b> is used.
      </p>
