      <p class="para_topic">Use <b class="uiTerm">Heal Path</b> <img align="bottom" src="graphics/heal_path.gif" border="0"> to create a path connecting two or more selected, unconnected objects. Optionally, <b class="uiTerm">Heal Path</b> assigns a default bend corner at the RCPs created, and assigns stock to the new segments if the <b class="uiTerm">Generate</b> type is <b class="uiTerm">Lines</b>.

      <p class="para_topic">The <b class="uiTerm">Heal Path</b> dialog box creates paths using one of eight standard methods. The path is: a single spline segment provided the Application View allows it and that spline segment is associative to the selected objects.
      </p>
      <ul>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">a single spline segment (provided the Application View allows splines). The resultant spline segment is associative to the selected objects.</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">a set of linear segments.</p>
         </li>
      </ul>
      <p class="para_topic">To heal a path, select two objects from the graphics screen. <b class="uiTerm">Single Selection</b> and <b class="uiTerm">Deselection</b> is active. Segments, lines, open arcs, and splines, the end which will heal is that closest to the screen selection location. The ends selected may not share the same location on the screen. The possible selection objects are:
      </p>
      <ul>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Fitting, Fixture, or Multi Ports (not Stock ports).</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Segments</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Lines, arcs, and splines</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Circular edges</p>
         </li>
      </ul>
      <p class="para_topic">Each of these object types provides a vector (position and direction), which <b class="uiTerm">Heal</b> requires. The associated vector for ports is its alignment vector. The associated vector for segments, lines, splines and open&ndash;ended arcs is the tangent at the end points. The associated vector for closed arcs and circular edges are their Z&ndash;axis vector at the center.

                  <p class="para_note_body">Segments that are part of a bend corner, either the arc segments itself or the linear segments on either side (called side segments), are not selectable.</p>

      <p class="para_topic">After you have selected both objects, a proposed (straight line) path displays temporarily in the graphics window without stock and corner detail. This proposed path depends on the chosen <b class="uiTerm">Heal Method</b>. An alternate solution appears if you select a different <b class="uiTerm">Heal Method</b>. If you change the start or end extension lengths or modify any dialog box value, the new proposed path re-displays. Should you modify the screen display in a way that erases the temporary data, reentering any dialog box value will update the display.
      </p>
      <div class="title_division">Start and end lengths</div>
      <p class="para_division">The <b class="uiTerm">Start Length</b> specifies the length the created path must be in the direction of the selected <b class="uiTerm">Start Object</b> before it makes any turn. The <b class="uiTerm">End Length</b> does the same for the <b class="uiTerm">End Object</b>. Enter a value into either of these entry boxes and press return to change the value. If you have selected both the <b class="uiTerm">Start</b> and <b class="uiTerm">End</b> objects, the temporary path display updates to reflect the new values. If not, you use these values once you create the temporary display.
      </p>
      <div class="title_division">Extension lengths</div>
      <p class="para_division">When you select a port as the Start Object, the <b class="uiTerm">Extension Length</b> assigned to that port (see  <b class="uiTerm"><a class="links" href="javascript:void(0)" onclick="top.openFile('routingtools/parts_quality.html');return(false);">Qualify Part</a></b>) displays in the dialog box as the default <b class="uiTerm">Start Length</b>. If the <b class="uiTerm">End Object</b> is a port, then the <b class="uiTerm">Extension Length</b> assigned to the port presents as the default value for end length.
      </p>
      <div class="title_division">Reverse start and end direction</div>
      <p class="para_division">When you select a port as the <b class="uiTerm">Start</b> or <b class="uiTerm">End Object</b>, <b class="uiTerm">Heal Path</b> assumes the path is to create in the direction of the port alignment vector. Turn on the <b class="uiTerm">Reverse Start (or End) Direction</b> to use the direction opposite the alignment vector of the port.
      </p>
      <p class="para_division">If the port has only an <b class="uiTerm">Extension Length</b> defined, that value is used in both cases as the <b class="uiTerm">Start (or End) Length</b>. If the <b class="uiTerm">Back Extension</b> is defined for the port (fixture port only), then the <b class="uiTerm">Back Extension</b> value is used as the default <b class="uiTerm">Start (or End) Length</b> when <b class="uiTerm">Reverse Start (or End) Direction</b> is turned on.
      </p>
      <div class="title_division">Allow multiple ends</div>
      <p class="para_division"><b class="uiTerm">Heal Path</b> provides the capability to create multiple paths from a single start to several ends. Setting this on allows the selection of several ports as ends of the paths.
      </p>
      <div class="title_division">Override individual extensions</div>
      <p class="para_division"><b class="uiTerm">Heal Path</b> provides the capability to extend the ends of multiple heal paths to have the same extension length. For example, ports are qualified individually with different extension lengths. Selecting this option with multiple ends allows you to override the individual port extensions with the entered value.
      </p>
