      <p class="para_topic">An mating constraint relates a geometric object from the component to be assembled to a geometric object on another component in the assembly. Depending on the mating type specified, a constraint might eliminate one or more Degrees of Freedom (DOF). There is no requirement for the first constraint defined to be the one that eliminates the most DOFs.</p>

      <div class="title_division">Handling of constraints</div>
      <p class="para_division">Tolerance Stackup Validation's handling of constraints includes:</p>
      <ul>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">If a component has mating conditions, but is under-constrained, Tolerance Stackup Validation runs a simulation based on the given mating conditions only. No messages are reported in this situation.</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">If a component is mated with a mating constraint that is not supported by Tolerance Stackup Validation, the unsupported constraint is not considered, but any constraints that are supported are still used to control the component's location.</p>
         </li>
      </ul>
