      <p class="para_topic">A machine device is a physical piece of equipment mounted on a machine that can perform certain actions. Typical devices are turrets, heads, tail-stocks, steady-rests, parts catchers, tool calibration probes, or part transfer robots. The actions of a device are controlled in the NC program. You can store machine devices in NX Library and retrieve them onto your machine in your CAM session.</p>
      <p class="para_topic">Access the machine device library as follows:</p>
      <ul>

            <p class="para_item">In the <b class="uiTerm">Machine Tool View</b>, double-click on the machine at the top of the tree structure. Choose <b class="uiTerm">Retrieve Devices</b> from the <b class="uiTerm">Generic Machine</b> dialog. From the <b class="uiTerm">Library Class Selection</b> dialog, begin to <a class="links" href="javascript:void(0)" onclick="top.openFile('mfggeneral/com_lib_select_from_lib.html');return(false);">select your tool from the Library</a>.

      <p class="para_topic">Once you retrieve a device, the software places it in the first empty device holder that has the same holding system classification as that found in the <b class="literalText">HLD</b> attribute in the <i class="fileName">device_database.dat</i> file.
