      </table><br><p class="para_topic">Standard facing (choosing a face, not a boundary) may not give you the desired results because there is not enough control. Manual Cut will give you the control you need.</p>
      <ul>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Consider the geometry of the part you want to machine. Although NX supplies cut patterns to machine this particular geometry, perhaps the most efficient cut pattern is not yet a selection. In this situation, you should optimize the machining of your part by using Manual Cut to define your own simple cut pattern.</p>
            <p class="para_item">In the example below the geometry can be machined by a Follow Pocket cut pattern. This, however, may take multiple passes with the cutter. If you have a large-sized cutter in your inventory, then you may be able to machine this geometry with only one pass of the cutter, saving you time.</p>

            <p class="para_item">Manual Cut is also useful when you want the cutter to follow a path that does not follow the perimeter of the shape you are cutting.</p>

      <p class="para_topic">For example, you may determine that the follow pocket cut method used on the part below is NOT the most efficient cut method.</p>

      <p class="para_topic">Using manual cut pattern, you can create a simpler path, using simple, straight line moves in some areas, and following around the part in other areas.</p>
