      </table><br><p class="para_topic">When the <b class="uiTerm">Trochoidal</b> cut direction is set to <b class="uiTerm">Inward</b>, the cutter moves in a circular looping pattern while the center of the circle moves along a path (1). This is similar in appearance to a stretched-out spring. A smooth follow pattern (2) cuts the regions inward. This is a legacy pattern, and is not used very much, since <b class="uiTerm">Outward</b> <b class="uiTerm">Trochoidal</b> offers several advantages.

      <p class="para_division">Enter <b class="uiTerm">Trochoidal Width</b> on the <b class="uiTerm">Cut Parameters</b> dialog, <b class="uiTerm">Strategy</b> page. The trochoidal cut pattern below has a small width.

      <p class="para_division"><b class="uiTerm">Max Cut Traverse</b> (<b class="uiTerm">Cut Parameters</b> dialog, <b class="uiTerm">Connections</b> page) is the maximum allowable move at the stepover feed rate along the part surface when moving within a region. &nbsp;If the distance is greater than this amount, then an internal retract is generated to reposition the tool. &nbsp;When <b class="uiTerm">Max Cut Traverse</b> is off, NX always tries to make a straight move at the stepover feed rate.
      </p>
      <p class="para_division">After using trochoidal cutting, the other passes are similar to a smooth follow periphery inward pattern. </p>
      <div class="title_division">Automatic Engage Moves</div>
      <p class="para_division">With <b class="uiTerm">Inward Trochoidal</b>, <b class="uiTerm">On Lines</b> and <b class="uiTerm">On Shape</b> have special behavior. &nbsp;
      </p>
      <p class="para_division"><b class="uiTerm">On Lines</b> follows the center of the trochoidal cut, as illustrated below. &nbsp;

      <p class="para_division">The software alters the cut type where the <b class="uiTerm">Inward</b> <b class="uiTerm">Trochoidal</b> pattern does not fit (panhandles). &nbsp;Regions that are too skinny for the trochoidal pattern are machined using the <b class="uiTerm">Follow Part</b> pattern.
