               <p class="para_td">Rapid applies only to the next GOTO point in the tool path and CLSF. Subsequent moves use the last specified feed rate. &nbsp;A rapid feed rate of zero causes the postprocessor command RAPID to be written into the tool path and CLSF causing either a machine dependent rapid code (e.g., G00) or the machine tool maximum feed rate to be output by the postprocessor. &nbsp;</p>

                           <p class="para_warning_body">On many NC machines, positioning in rapid mode (e.g., G00) is not interpolated as a straight line move. &nbsp;These dog-leg moves can cause collisions that you won't see in NX.</p>

               <p class="para_td">Approach</p>
            </td>
            <td bgcolor="#f4f4f4" colspan="1" rowspan="1">
               <p class="para_td">Approach is the Feed Rate given for the tool movement from the Start Point to the Engage position. In Planar and Cavity Milling operations that use multiple levels, the Approach feedrate is used to control the feed from one level to the next. &nbsp;A Feed Rate of zero causes the system to use the rapid feed rate.</p>

               <p class="para_td">Engage</p>
            </td>
            <td bgcolor="#f4f4f4" colspan="1" rowspan="1">
               <p class="para_td">Engage is the feed rate given for the tool movement from the Engage position to the initial cutting position. This feed rate also applies to the return Feed Rate when the tool returns to the workpiece after lifts. A Feed Rate of zero causes the system to use the Cut feed rate.</p>

               <p class="para_td">First Cut is the Feed Rate given for the initial cutting pass. (Subsequent passes feed at the Cut feed rate value.) &nbsp;A Feed Rate of zero causes the system to use the Cut feed rate. </p>
               <p class="para_td">For a single pass profile or standard drive, the first cut feedrate is ignored, and the cut feedrate is always used. </p>

               <p class="para_td">Stepover</p>
            </td>
            <td bgcolor="#f4f4f4" colspan="1" rowspan="1">
               <p class="para_td">Stepover is the Feed Rate for the cutter as it moves to the next parallel pass. This does not apply if the tool lifts from the work surface. Therefore, the Stepover feed rate applies only to modules allowing Zig-Zag tool paths. &nbsp;A Feed Rate of zero causes the system to use the Cut feed rate.</p>

            </td>
            <td bgcolor="#f4f4f4" colspan="1" rowspan="1">
               <p class="para_td">Cut is the Feed Rate given for the tool movement while the cutter is in contact with part geometry.</p>

            </td>
            <td bgcolor="#f4f4f4" colspan="1" rowspan="1">
               <p class="para_td">Departure is the feed rate given for the tool movement from the retract move, or the traversal or the return move. &nbsp;A feed rate of zero causes the tool to move at the Rapid Feed Rate. &nbsp;In the diagram below, the first Return (above Retract) can also be a Departure move.</p>

               <p class="para_td">Traversal</p>
            </td>
            <td bgcolor="#f4f4f4" colspan="1" rowspan="1">
               <p class="para_td">Traversal is the Feed Rate used for fast horizontal non-cutting tool motion when the Transfer Method option on the Engage/Retract menu has a status of Previous Level (instead of Clearance Plane).</p>
               <p class="para_td">Traversal Feed Rate is used only when the tool is the Vertical Clearance distance above the uncut surface and the Horizontal Clearance distance away from any cavity islands or walls. This protects the part during tool transit and the tool can move without lifting to the Clearance Plane. &nbsp;A feed rate of zero causes the tool to move at the Rapid Feed Rate.</p>

            </td>
            <td bgcolor="#f4f4f4" colspan="1" rowspan="1">
               <p class="para_td">Return is the Feed Rate for the tool move to the Return Point. A Return feed rate of zero causes the tool to move at the Rapid Feed Rate.</p>

               <p class="para_td">Retract is the Feed Rate given for the tool movement to the Retract position from the final tool path cutting position. A Retract feed rate of zero causes the tool to retract at the Rapid Feed Rate for linear moves and at the Cut feed rate for circular moves.</p>

      </table><br><p class="para_topic">If <b class="uiTerm">Engage</b>, <b class="uiTerm">First Cut</b>, or <b class="uiTerm">Stepover</b> is set to a feed rate of zero, the move is output at the same feed rate value that the <b class="uiTerm">Cut</b> feed rate is set to. (<b class="uiTerm">Cut</b> can not be set to zero.)
      </p>
      <p class="para_topic">Any motion type (except circular interpolation) with an output feed rate value of zero will typically result in G00 motion from the post.</p>
      <p class="para_topic">If a feed rate is not set for <b class="uiTerm">Rapid</b>, <b class="uiTerm">Traversal</b>, <b class="uiTerm">Approach</b> or <b class="uiTerm">Departure</b>, these moves would follow G00 (shown in dashed lines.) Exception: If <b class="uiTerm">Rapid</b> has a value entered, then neither <b class="uiTerm">Rapid</b> or <b class="uiTerm">Traversal</b> moves are G00. <b class="uiTerm">Traversal</b> would use the modal feed rate.
