You can create machining features for milling from several sources: Feature Recognition, Manually Created Features (through Feature Recognition), NX Base Features, User Defined Features (UDF), and Tagged Faces.</p>
      <div class="title_division">Feature Identification of NX Base Features</div>
      <p class="para_division">The modeling application in NX provides standard pocket and slot features such as RECTANGULAR_POCKET, CYLINDRICAL_POCKET, and various types of SLOTs. If solid bodies have these modeling features, you can create machining features from them through Machining Feature Navigator. Each modeling feature creates one machining feature. Once a modeling feature becomes a machining feature it's a candidates for feature groups and FBM operations.</p>

               <div class="para_note">
                  <p class="para_note_body">Although thse NX base features can be used for model design, they aren't necessarily represented as such when the modeling is done. For instance, two intersecting RECTANGULAR_POCKETS can form one pocket or an open pocket, or even just a flat face with no walls, depending on where on this feature is instantiated the model.</p>

      <p class="para_division">Therefore, feature identification and processing purely by an items NX feature name requires predefined process templates that represent the exact situation and cutting strategy required to machine the resulting feature, e.g. a process template for an open pocket and a process template for a closed pocket. Both pockets may use same RECTANGULAR_POCKETS NX feature, but each has a different machining process.</p>

      <div class="title_division">Identification Based on Attributes (Tagged Faces)</div>
      <p class="para_division">NX supports Feature Identification and Identification Based on Attributes as in the Holemaking module. Currently, milling of features carrying these attributes is limited to single-face features only. Once a geometric entity, such as a point or face, carries the CAM_FEATURE_NAME title, it is automatically identified as a machining feature in the Machining Feature Navigator.</p>

      <div class="title_division">Operation Parameters</div>
      <p class="para_division">Operation parameters are exposed to Knowledge Fusion so that the parameter values can be derived from the KF rules. Operation parameters are applied to all features of the group collectively and equally to each feature. Therefore, unlike in Holemaking operations, here you can't assign two different parameter values to two different features in the same group using KF rules. &nbsp;</p>
      <p class="para_division"> It is also possible to apply one type of template to multiple types of features, so you can have one process template for features that are topologically identical but may have different names. When you apply a template, the attributes for the feature type are drawn from the parameters set in the template. Once you create a feature group for each type, the attributes are derived from Classification Criteria.</p>
