      </table><br><p class="para_topic">The following explains how to perform some common tasks for Cavity and Zlevel Milling using the Cut Levels dialog.</p>
      <div class="title_division">Identifying Cut Levels</div>

      <p class="para_division">Cut levels are identified as follows:</p>
      <ul>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Large triangles are range tops, range bottoms, and critical depths.</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Small triangles are cut depths.</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">The selected range displays in the Visualization &quot;Selection&quot; color.</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">The other ranges display in the manufacturing &quot;Part&quot; color.</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Top off depths display in the Manufacturing &quot;Top Off Level&quot; Color.</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">White triangles are at or above the top level. Magenta triangles are below the top level.</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Solid triangles are associative. (They are defined by geometry.)</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Dashed triangles aren't associative.</p>
         </li>
      </ul>
      <div class="title_division">Identifying the Range Types</div>

      </table><br><div class="title_division">Changing the Range Type</div>
      <p class="para_division">Note that changing from User Defined does not warn you if all the levels were system generated (e.g. if originally created by Auto Generate). A warning is given only if at least one level was defined or changed by the user.</p>
      <p class="para_division">To change the range type, select another Range Type button at the top of the dialog. When you change the Range Type, you'll see the following behavior: </p>

      </table><br><div class="title_division">Selecting a Range</div>

      <p class="para_division">It's very important to select the correct range when you want to add, edit, or delete. Use the up/down arrows to first select a range or the top level. Then, you can add, edit, or delete. </p>
      <div class="title_division">Adding a Range</div>
      <p class="para_division">To add a range:</p>
      <ol type="1" start="1">
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Select Insert range  <img align="bottom" src="graphics/range_insert.gif" border="0">.
            </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Select a point, a face, or key in a Range Depth value that defines the bottom plane of the new range. </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">If necessary, enter a new Local Depth per Cut value.</p>
            <p class="para_item">The range is then created from that plane up to the bottom of the range just above it or to the top level if there are no ranges above. If a face is selected, the system uses the highest point of the face to position the bottom plane of the new range. The range remains associative to the face. &nbsp;If the face is modified or deleted, the range is adjusted or deleted to match.</p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">Select OK to accept the new range and exit the dialog.</p>
         </li>
      </ol>
      <p class="para_division">The figure below illustrates how the system adds a new range extending from a selected face up to the bottom of the range just above it. </p>
      <p class="para_division">Range 1 is an existing range. A new range (2) is added by selecting a face (3). The system uses the highest position on the selected face to define the depth of Range 2. Once the face is selected and the Depth Per Cut defined, the new range (Range 2) is generated from the selected face upward to the bottom of the next range (Range 1). </p>

      <p class="para_division">The figure below illustrates how the system adds a new range extending from a selected face to the top level.</p>
      <p class="para_division">Range 1 is an existing range. A new range (2) is added by selecting a face (3). The system uses the highest position on the selected face to define the depth of Range 2. Once the face is selected and the Depth Per Cut defined, the new range (Range 2) is generated from the selected face upward to the bottom of the next range. In this example, because there are no ranges above Range 2, Range 2 is generated up to the top level (4). Range 1 is reduced in size and contains fewer cut depths.</p>

      <div class="title_division">Modifying a Range</div>

      <p class="para_division">You can modify the current range for both Cavity Milling and Zlevel Milling using Edit. &nbsp;Edit lets you move the bottom plane of existing ranges along the tool axis by keying in a new Range Depth, moving the Slide Bar, or selecting a face or a point. The range to be modified must be currently active (highlighted). &nbsp;</p>

      </table><br><p class="para_division">You can move the bottom plane to any position within the cut volume. This may delete ranges completely, as illustrated in the figure below. &nbsp;</p>
      <p class="para_division">The selected range decreases in size as you move the range bottom up. Likewise, the range below it increases in size. In the figure below, the original set of ranges is illustrated in the center. To the left, the bottom of Range 2 (indicated by the arrow) is lowered, while to the right it is raised. &nbsp;Any ranges lying within the edited range are removed.</p>

      <ul>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">When the bottom plane of Range 2 is moved all the way down (extreme left), Ranges 3 and 4 are deleted. </p>
         </li>
         <li>
            <p class="para_item">When the bottom plane of Range 2 is moved all the way to the top level (extreme right), Range 1 is deleted and Range 2 is eventually compressed to a zero thickness.</p>
