The spreadsheets consists of worksheets that contain data relevant for the process flow in Holemaking. The Holemaking Mold Wizard template uses special KF functions to access this data and determine what process is required and what values and tools are needed to create the operations.

The spreadsheet will be read in when the following entry is defined in one of the configuration files in ..\mach\resource\configuration.

SPREADSHEET,${UGII_CAM_SPREADSHEET_DIR}spreadsheets.dat

By default this entry is done in the hole_making_mw.dat file

If this file is selected from the CAM Session Configuration Dialog, the system connects to the spreadsheet(s) and reads in the data. After that it disconnects from the spreadsheet.

Moldwizard Features are identified and renamed automatically when entering CAM with a part file that has mold wizard component features (linked and subtracted bodies) that carry the MW_HOLE_ <Feature Name> attribute on one of its faces. This face attribute must match one of the feature definitions in the COMBINATIONS sheet defined in the spreadsheets.dat file.

Renaming Features

The software uses the internally stored spreadsheet data to rename the subtracted Mold Wizard features to Holemaking features.

For example, if a Mold Wizard subtracted feature contains the face attributes MW_HOLE_COOL_1 and MW_HOLE_COOL_C_BORE, the system would look in the spreadsheet data and rename this feature MW_HOLE_COOL_1_C_BORE.

Once the features are renamed, the system uses cylindrical face diameters and depths and attaches values as attributes for feature classification.

Process Worksheet

When retrieving data from the spreadsheets, the process name is usually used in the KF functions. When you call a process name, for example, in the tool query dialog, the system accesses the Process Worksheet and searches for the process name in the PROCESS column. When the system finds the called process name, the system reads down the row of the Process sheet to the Minimum, Maximum, and Operation Sheet columns. It then compares the feature's diameter with the minimum/maximum range in the Minimum and Maximum columns. If the feature's diameter is within this range, the process is valid, and the system accesses the Operation Worksheet that is listed in the Operation Worksheet column.

For example, if you call the function speed_rule_general("CENTER_DRILL_FOR_DOWEL") for a 10 mm hole, you are asking for the spindle rpm of a particular tool needed for the CENTER_DRILL_FOR_DOWEL process for a 10 mm hole. The system looks in the Process Worksheet for this name (CENTER_DRILL_FOR_DOWEL). When it finds this name it looks down the row to the Operation Sheet column that is within this minimum/maximum range. From this row the system accesses the called information, the spindle speed from the SURF_SPEED_FPM column.

Operation Worksheet

The Operation Worksheets primarily store operation-related data like tools, feeds and speeds, cycles to be used, depth, etc. The Operation Worksheets also contain minimum/maximum columns. The system decides which row to access based on the values in these columns.

To access the Process and Operation Worksheets for customization purposes, go to MACH\resource\spreadsheet.
