Uncut Regions is specific to Planar Milling. It is the legacy method for identifying boundaries. Current users should use Save 2D IPW.

In Planar Milling, material that is left uncut (because the tool could not get to it) can be identified by boundaries created from Part geometry and Check geometry. All Uncut Region boundaries are output as closed boundaries with Tanto tool positions. These boundaries can then be selected as Blank geometry used in subsequent finishing operations to clean out the remaining material. The Auto Save Boundary option described below must be activated to create the boundaries. The Boundary Type and Overlap Distance determine the characteristics of the boundaries.

This simplifies the process of defining the geometry for the finish operation. You can copy the operation to a new (finishing) operation, then remove the original blank geometry if it exists. Then, you can pick the uncut areas as blank geometry with the material side inside.

The boundaries output from uncut regions are grouped together as a group entity named <oper name>.cln . Each individual boundary is named <operation name>.B<n> where "n" is a sequential number starting at one for the first boundary to output.
